:hide:D:stopbeingI just had a long ride on the new GSA. I've got an 16600 mile 58 plate with remus and Akro, and that has much better midrange torque than standard, but compaired to the new GSA, it's sluggish.
The engine is smoother, sounds even better than mine, and pulls easier from low revs. The bike feels lighter when throwing it about and the suspension is also improved. If you could wave a magic wand over the old one then this is what you would come up with. It's a more planted bike all round and just feels sooo much better! The only down side is what I was offfered for a part/ex ( £4800 ) but I could always take the exhaust off ( Remus headers and Akro ) and sell them here, they must be worth at least £350, not a mark on 'em, does that seem a good price as no one is selling any to compare with?
Any way I diverse, the new GSA is ABFAB and I want one!

i'll have those pipes off you if you decide to go ahead with deal.

I also rode a 2010 1200GSA at the weekend:D:D

Thinking about trading my 08 RT for one- It wud leave my rt for dead from the lights- It seemed to want to wheelie with out to much trouble

2010 GSA

Yes... that was the amount to change, not what they offered me for mine!

It's not what they offer you for the part ex, it's what it costs to change. a fully loaded GSA with Premium & Dynamic is £13460 OTR. I tried a few dealers for the best trade in, after all you want the best deal don't you! One wanted £5460, another which has just opened ( guesses on a postcard please .....) £5400 with me keeping the exhaust.

The best offer was from "tup north" but travelling up there to show them the bike meant putting another 280 miles on the clock there and back, then back again to do the deal, then a first service, then picking the exhaust up after talking the standard one up :blagblah, so for the sake of saving about £100, not much point, so in the end did the deal with Wollaston's, my nearest dealer, and left the exhaust on, so sorry I can't help anyone with the Akro, it just wasn't worth the hassle.

As mine needs an 18,000 service and tyres in a few weeks that's £400 saved, plus 2 trips around Europe in the next few months with a 24,000 service & tyres @ £600 inbetween then 30,000 on the clock by Sept, and what's it worth for a trade in then ?

So change now. It's wierd how you have to justify spending all that cash to yourself, or is it just me?

I got a even better deal in the end, and can't wait for March 1st! All I can say to anyone is Go for a test ride

Spend it while you can, :stopbeing there's no biking in heaven, health and safety put a stop to that!

£5k to change on a bike just over a year old:eek:

You can't take it with you..................but they'll have made a margin on the new one and your trade in

So they bought your bike for £8500 or thereabouts...................it'll be up for nearer £10k, with an AUB warranty

I always have to justify spending money as well. When you say fully loaded does that include top box and panniers? if so I've been done :-/

Bike is 17 months old, it also has a bent o/s engine crash bar, 10 mph get off on Welsh sheep poo ( would cost £175 to change ) OK it doesn't cost them that much, then a service & tyres, cost to me £400, then they put a 12 month warranty and tax on it, and all this helps me teel just a little better when I part with my hard earned cash, AND I don't have the hassle of trying to sell it private!!

Look I'm still justifying it to myself ARHHHHH :pullface

Haha, you sound just like me. I always end up coming back to the same thing, if I can afford it without sacrificing essentials, and it's what I really want then I go for it. After all it's what we go to work for isn't it, to buy these nice luxuries? You just have to realise that changing bikes and cars always cost money, and you will always lose money. If you spend too much time thinking about it though you'd never change and would be running around on a 20 year old wreck ;)
