Hi folks,
I did do a search beforehand but couldn't find the answer so apologies in advance if I missed it.
Just after picking up a 2011 GSA and am delighted with it. No problems so far but I was just curious to know if there is any definite way to tell just by looking at the bike if it has the dreaded fuel strip sensor or the float type, ideally without disassembling half the bike?
I can't find anything concrete online about when exactly BMW switched back to the float type sensor for the GSA.
From doing a bit of research on here and elsewhere I have seen some say the 2012 model went back to the float, while others say from 2010 on-wards; so it seems a bit vague as to when the switch to float was made. I also recall someone stating they changed the sensor back to the float type in the late 2010 models. So as you can see the answers are varying quite a bit.
Is it safe to assume the 2011 has the float type? Or is there any tell tale signs of which sensor it has...apart from waiting to see if it eventually bites the dust?
