2011 R1200GSA struggling to accelerate at high rpm problem!!

This bike is breaking me, I just went out again to see if torqued plugs made a diff. Nothing.

So bike is back to stock, even plugged exhaust flap back in.

Only thing that isnt stock it a MOTO battery I put in when I gt it...but that shows 14v at high rpm

I'm at a loss

I'm going to drain fuel completely tmrw dry and refill from a Jerry can.

I'm almost at the point of giving up...

You could have some water sloshing around at the bottom of the tank,

if the drain in the filler neck is blocked any water will end up in the tank.

You can buy stuff that will get rid of the water, but i cant remember what it is

Also my coils seems to have pushed out a good cm or so. I'm wondering if they are not torqued down enough and loosing compression at high rpm?

my new coils did this... I think is they are so tight that first run or so the air gets hot and pushes them out
I pushed back when hot and now seem back to normal

odd but they did it

t

The vent is clear I checked this. But might still be water. But wierd that this will only impact 80mph plus speeds. Around b roads it runs lovely.

Wynns Dri Fuel is one

Better to take tank off (Again Sorry !) and remove the fuel pump Drain it as best you can and then tip the tank over so that all the fuel is on the pump side drain as much as you can out and again and then the trade secret

Microfibre cloth! Just soaks everything up water fuel the lot Leave it dried out and you are good to go You aare sure that everything is out of there What ever is in the returns is minuscule

And so we begin...

Going to drop tank and clear fuel.

This feels like fuel issue at higher rpm it's not getting enough.

Pump and Fuel controller replaced so either bad fuel (but filled about 10 times) or filters blocked.

Will test injector spray first..see what that looks like

Seems to spray fine on both sides onto my cardboard. Well tank time it is then

I feel for you!
Faltering at high revs indicates a lack of something at those elevated revs:-

Petrol - starvation due to filter flow, pump flow or injector flow

Air - unlikely if filter clean, there isn't a pigeon/mouse nest in there is there?, Mis-timed valves, unlikely for both sides to be out, (notwithstanding previous owner having a bash at home maintenance)

Spark - breakdown of coils at higher loads (my money on this), tps error

I realise you have verified /discounted some of the above but it doesn't hurt to try to work out the basics.

BTW, have you spoken to previous owner/vendor to see if you can get any hints from them?

It's only had one owner and he said he didnt have any issues when he owned it.

All of the above has been checked about 3 times.

I'm currently soaking my fuel filter and will try again.

Tank is cleaned and dried

Fuel filter has been filled and cleaned again.

Can easily blow air through under lung power.

Took fuel lines off and they clear.

Took earth off and cleaned that and back together.

Accelerator cables all seated and not pinched.

And that did not fix anything...stripping this bike for the tenth time in this heat.

I changed alternator belt and battery.

Last two things I changed.

Going to take off injectors and clean again.

Very true,

Might swap battery over and see if that makes a diff

I wonder?? fuel pressure regulator not closing properly when you need the extra fuel and ,,,,,,,,,

You could maybe use an airline at about 25 ~30 PSI through the system from the tank end and the return line disconnected and blow any possible dirt out or just hoke the regulator out of the holder and change for a new one (making sure the valve seat is not damaged / deformed) ??

I already blew it out and its flowing free. Checked the fuel lines to a jar and they gush fuel turning it over

something is causing it.... doesn't seem mechanical, and the electronics are hardly earth shatteringly complex - so we should be able to sort this

1) go ride a different version of the same bike and or ride together and do roll-ons etc.
2) break that traction control off... even disable, all doable with moto scan app (the last thing anyone needs in their life is a lawn mower with electronics slowing it down on purpose when the grip on the rear tyre is some 40bhp from ever being able to break traction)
3) did you ever swap the spark plugs for another set?
4) how many mice nesting in the air box / inlet trumpet?

if its stock now.... do the readings all look normal on that log file?

could be the ecu has decided it want a holiday ?
they don't last like the old says (although not heard of one on these fail)
does the 911 show the part number of the engine map you have? are you seeing the bike starting to adapt to its new life post wiping out its adaptions?

They looked good, nice and wide and strong.

Botus

I have disabled abs etc and to no avail.

Snorkel and airbox and spotless.

Everything looks normal on the scan

I cant tell if its adapting as always just poor after 80ish.

Just tried some secondary coils and that made no difference

Dont have another twin cam close to try but explained in detail to my brother what I'm experiencing and his doesnt do that, its strong up to 7k where mine isnt.

Lasssttttt thing to try tmrw is swap in another battery just in case and another TPS.

Late to the party but had similar issues part way through a trip around Scotland. While we were at a coffee stop, and totally by chance, I checked the secondary coils and noticed that one of the plugs from the loom looked "loose". Its a very small plug with very small spade type connectors and one of them had become "sloppy". I tightened up the spade connector and plugged it back in, more in hope than anything else - and all was well.

It will cost nothing and is easy to check.
