Hey
2013 LC so first of the model 53K Km

Engine light and amber warning today , and I thought idle note had changed
Driving fine , stopped Ign. off - fault cleared temporarily - now intermittent - has not gone into "limp" mode
taking longer time now on starter to fire up and also backfired

I do not have a code reader or the means to pay BMW a wedge of money although this i where i may end up
so I am just asking nicely if your bike had similar fault ..what was the final fix
i am suspecting twist grip throttle sensor...
but I am aware of the other possibilities
Thanks
bob

Sounds a lot like it could be the throttle position sensor or even a weak battery/charging issue starting to show up. Mine had similar symptoms rough idle, warning light, harder starting and occasional backfire ended up being a bad throttle body sensor. Worth checking battery voltage and connections first before spending money at BMW.

Amber CEL, rideable fault which may or maybe not stored as a hard fault code, often will clear on an ignition cycle or xx number of non fault ignition cycles

Red CEL. Hard , often non rideable fault
Will not clear with ignition cycling, hard coded, and requires OBD2 reading. Scanning to check / read/ clear the fault code

Treat yours as a soft warning that something is not happy, and needs a bit of further investigation

If you’ve got a local independent garage you could drop in and ask them to read the could for you and give them £10 or so for it. Then you’d know if you need to book it in for a repair or can fix it yourself.

Unless they have diagnostery stuff capable of reading Motorrad stuff and conversion leads if required , you may not be any better off

Its either BMW main dealer BMW indie, Hex911 or motorscan

Just as a follow up
Fault was camshaft sensor
Got codes read by independent workshop
Sensor used on variety of mini & BMW cars
Cross referenced part no. And got aftermarket sensor on line 30€
OEM about 120
Happy days
