Finally picked up Pearl, my 2013 white GS LC yesterday afternoon. Here are a few thoughts after the first 120 miles....... This is my first GS........
Half of my 3 hour ride home was in the rain...
Love the Anakee III tires that came on it. I probably won't be off-road much, but through great german road curves, they stuck nicely.
No problems with any switches due to the rain. Everything worked fine.
Avergaed 40 mpg, but I was really rolling through every gear and wasn't going at all at a steady pace for any great distances.
Tried the cruise control a couple times, but only for a mile or so. worked fine (but not long enough to really guage it)
Clutch and tranny worked, and sounded great to me. (my first GS)
I didn't get a GPS model, so that stupid little wheel isn't on there and I have no problems with the turn signals.
Like many others have said, neutral is a bit hard to find sometimes.
I heard one strange noise the whole trip......I finally figured out is was me giggling the whole way home because this bike is just awesome. No howling or whining noises though.
I also learned quicky....do not put the kickstand on the downslope of a hill, bitch of a time trying to tiptoe it up high enough to get the kickstand up. I eventually had to get off the bike and roll it back. I'm sure I'll learn better ways with time.
Anyway, first overall impression is that I really love this bike. Once I get more seat time, I'm sure I'll figure out a couple of annoyances, but as far as the ride goes, thoroughly impressed. Hopefully I can get some pics out soon.
Oh yeah, came with BMW side and top cases, risers, and crash bars. Left case and crash bars on back order.
400 miles now. Still no complaints. Lots of people are complaining about clunky gear changes. I just moved over from a Harley, so it sounds normal to me. Still no issues with switches, etc. Still no road noise. Still giggling the whole ride. 44 miles per gallon. Really played with the rain and dynamic modes today. Like them both. Had really wet roads for a bit. I'm sure the bike could've taken much more throttle, I'm just chicken on wet roads (or smart). Traction control kicked in once that I felt. Not sure if it did it more or not. Dynamic is really quick. I really like it and might use it more often. Still love the Anakee IIIs. Really glad I put the 2 inch risers on. Neutral is getting easier to find, still miss it once in a while though. Not sure about the seat yet. I've been without a bike for 2 months, so I'm hoping my arse is sore only because I haven't been riding lately. Not giving up on it yet. Love the luggage too though still waiting on the left side case. Anyway, so far so good. First service scheduled for July 4th, we'll see if anything changes.
