2013 vs 2014 Engine guards and luggage.

Just a bit of info I haven't seen on this forum, but thought I'd share it anyway.

You lot probably know already......................... The engine protection systems made for the 2013 model will not fit on a 2014 model.

However, the 2013 luggage will fit on a 2014 model bike.

I've asked the question at the dealers if the 2014 Adventure luggage will fit on a 2014 GS, and he's going to get back to me.

I think this topic has already been discused here, there is some confusion surrounding it and from what I can remember if there is an issue it is based more so on your models chassis # than whether it is a 2013 or 2014 model as such.

If it helps anyone, I took delivery of mine in Jan this year and had no issues fitting 2013 SW Motech engine bars. Mine is what would commonly be described as the new 2014 model fitted with steering damper etc.

The upper mounting point on the 2013 bike has two bolt holes, the 2014 has a single bolt hole on a thicker bracket.

The 2013 crash bars which used the two mounting holes won't fit on the 2014 bike according to Advrider - some bars only used a single bolt fixing, so they may fit both years.

As said above, it's about actual build date, not model year. Mine is a 2014 and has the old front mounts. The front frame changed in November.
