2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

and thats exactly what my friend And I have done…I've ordered the GSA and will return to the RT next sept when they are ………hopefully………fully sorted

So the GSAwc is fully sorted then and doesn't suffer from dodgy grearboxes, harsh suspension and irritating resonance:augie......OK, I'll grant it actually has a functioning rear shock though.:D

mY local dealership got the first one back today , it was fully sorted, Valeted and filled with fuel….they rang the customer to give him the good news and he said …..Nah thanks , I'm rejecting it want a refund ..lol they pissed him about so he returned the favour

It's what I had planned to do too, it would allow me to use the Loaner at BMW's expense until the RT was fit for use, then reject it. At this point I would have to return the loaner, but I could buy a 2nd hand '14 RT (mine), saving a fortune on the depreciation, and it would come with 2 years warranty. Financial- not such a bad idea! Hassle wise- too much to put the dealership through...and myself.

I'm throwing it out there for anybody to comment...

the 2014 GSA is now sorted , no major probs being reported as far as I'm aware ..as long as it does what i need it to do during the winter and spring ,i Can then return to an RT for the summer ,,,I will be in a position to buy new again but there may well be some late low mileage second hand ones about

Which dealer? I could be interested in it...

as far as Im aware ALL rejected bikes are put into an In house auction , where the dealers bid on the bike they want …so even if its at the dealership it doesn't mean its there bike …crazy it was williams in Manchester

Was there not a cut off period regarding rejecting the bike ! surely if you leave it up to the day your bike is ready for collection they may void the offer !

Exactly what I was going to do but decided that the hassle of going to the dealers to strip off all of the extra electrics I'd put on was something I didn't want so am waiting for the call to collect my fixed, clean RT.

Snapping camchains ! RT owners will have that one to look forward to once they actually get back on the road, then the switchgear will start to fail , oh the joy of BMW ownership

Fixed for you :thumb

Just put a deposit down on an R12RT LE with the dynamic pack that has been returned by an owner - less than 2k miles. Just waiting for the new shock to be fitted next week. Decent discount off a new bike. Can't wait!

Okay, how much did you pay?

Full spec bike with full top box and audio system but not including Nav 5 is a shade under £18k new, I reckon, and I have paid £14,700. Bike first registered 1st march 2014 on a 14 plate with 2100 miles.

What I would point out is that the warranty doesn't reset to two years if you are buying the bike second hand. I think that this only applies if you are retaining your original bike under the original purchase contract.

I only payed £17,600 for my new LE, complete with topbox, nav 5 and Akra HP exhaust....so I'm pleased that used bikes are holding their value well.

Really, how do you work that out?

The £14700 is the dealer's retail selling price - so a buy-in price would be a lot less, if you were selling - maybe £13500

Even a £3k drop to £14700, for a 2100 mile bike has cost the original owner£1.42 per mile, for every one of those 2100 miles :D

Although this is a slightly artificial RT situation, we have seen similar drops on recently sold new 12GSA WC's, with a £2-£3k drop within a few months of original purchase

Ah yes, but when you factor in the nav 5 and akra it equates to a mere (theoretical) 76p per mile.

However, all this is academic, as I've absolutely no intention of selling mine for a good few years yet anyhoo.

Got mine back today, great to be on the RT again after the various loan 'bikes and confirms that, for me, the RT is THE 'bike.

Phew, all's well that ends well.

All fears over depreciation, squared off tyres from sitting (God knows where), dusty or bird turd stained paintwork and being ripped-off, cast aside and cruelly taken up the jacksie by BMW are but a rapidly fading memory :D :beerjug:
