I have the workshop manual for these bikes. If you’re thinking of working on your Goldwing and need the info please feel free to pm me and I’ll send pics of the info you need.
I’ve just done the final drive oil, brake fluid change and coolant change.
The coolant in particular was a VERY awkward job which would have been nigh on impossible to the average rider without the book.

Have you tackled the air filter yet, something not to look forward to I think.

Not yet. I’m thinking I’ll do what I can to cut down on service costs but let my dealer do the rest.

I'm dreading that.....
I think every job on the bike is over complicated and awkward. To do the coolant you start by removing BOTH mirrors.
Then basically work down taking everything off the bike including BOTH horns. It was a nightmare.

Nightmare. I have heard others saying it's not the easiest of jobs.

Building a bike around an air filter though is bloody perverse!

A bit like my 1290 KTM. Chang air filter, means removing the fuel tank. Better turn up for service on fumes or you’ll have a few 🤬 words from the dealer.

Air filter change is "interesting" - made more so by the airbag "stuff". Take your time , spread over two days (notes , photos and labels) ... probably about 5 hours work first time - guess 3 hours, 2nd time round. Do other things while you are in there (eg coolant) .... I'll leave my next change till about the 40,000 mile mark ..... majority of UK wings probably won't see this for quite a while !!

I’m at 29500 miles now. I did wonder about the air filter but it took over 6 hours to do those 3 jobs.

Not even close. 😉😂Better to be a high earning spanner hater ( I am neither) and get some other Cnut to do it.
The masochistic amongst us,( and I Iike a challenge), take the view that if it’s that challenging ( which it is to most), then I would prefer I fuck it up and know I did than some dealer chimp fuck it up and not say anything and charge over a day’s labour for the privilege of them fucking it up.
