2018 KTM 790 Adventure

I’m back....

35/31 litre panniers-width 92cm
40/36 is 98cm
45/41 is 104cm.

Xtremada’s will be narrower, especially when empty as they pack in quite tight.

Do you buy direct or via a local dealer?

Do you know so if they’ve done anything with a top box ?

I don’t have the toolbox and there’s a lot of wasted space for compressor and repair kits.

The rack I have is fine, the Wolfman is fine. But I want luggage that I can use on my other bikes so if it’s compatible and can fit on a 790, a Rocket, a Harley, etc then why not?

Anyone looking to ditch any Holan Kit from an 1190 / 1290, I could do with either their bigger boxes or a second full set so the Mrs can start carrying her own shit everywhere :D

Interesting little video . It’s amazing how much cheaper the 790 is in the US compared to Europe , a lot cheaper. It’s cheaper in Oz too, slightly . Also all the 790s will so be assembled in China from 2020 , didn’t know that . The “headlines” are just teething issues that I’m sure will be resolved . I know the fuel filter issue has been covered in here .

Are KTM doing them at 0% over there

I watched this video yesterday. Hate it when people post rubbish just to get attention for themselves and thats what this is!

So a bike has an oil leak....sound of world falling apart. The fuel thing will get sorted. Two oil leaks. Two. So he posts a video implying imminent doom. So BMW never have oil leaks on new bikes? Triumph? They all will won't they. Possibily not Honda.

Exactly right , that’s why I sarcastically referred to them as “headlines” . I was more interested in some of the other content.:thumb2

I don’t know but you’ll struggle to even get one over here , most dealers seem to have sold all their allocation for the year already from what I’ve been told.

KTM will crank up another production run soon enough in Austria or China to meet expectations and demand

KTM are not stupid - they will suspend production of models that are harder to shift, in favour of 790's

Past experience suggests that by mid summer there will be plenty of previously "unavailable" bikes glued to KTM showroom floors. Heavy discounts in Autumn.

That's not to say that it's a bad idea buying one now and getting a seasons use out of it.

Well, a mate wanted an R and dealer told him all sold out till 2020 so I’m not sure there’ll be some sat around by July/August !!

The same guy did a somewhat sarcastic comparison (below) of the Yamaha T700 vs KTM 790 Adv. I hadn't been following the T700 as I'd already decided it wasn't for me, so I hadn't seen the publicity videos set in Morocco. So in retrospect it was amusing that KTM chose the same locations (Gara Medour and so on) as Yamaha had used.
