My mother had Raynaud's and I think I'm going the same route. In my youth I remember in desperation on one trip, reaching down and heating my gauntlets (as they were in those days) directly on the exhaust pipe—ruined them of course.

I don't find heated grips much use as they mainly heat the palms and in any case you tend to be wearing thick gloves. So I fit handlebar muffs in the winter months. My second choice would be heated gloves.

Does anyone know the prices for some of the bits & pieces? e.g. Garmin mount, quick shift, cruise control, heated grips, centre stand.

Garmin mount and centre stand not yet available from KTM. SW Motech is doing both but not sure if prices are fixed. Otherwise, some prices and thoughts...

Quickshift: Software enabler. P/n 61600940000 about £334.

Cruise control: Enabler code (p/n 63500980000) costs about £220, plus a replacement for the four-way combination switch which includes cruise switch (p/n 76011270100), about £78. Total about £300.

Heated grips: P/n is 64112964044, cost about £145, separate non-integrated controller.

Rally Pack: To add this to the base model 790 you need software enabler 63500910000 at about £175.

GPS mount: The mount for the position above the TFT screen is not available yet, there is a handlebar mount.

Smartphone mount: The bracket for handlebar mounting p/n 61712991100 at £61, then the case for the phone into which the bracket clips is about £35 (different part numbers for different phones). However mounting phones in strong direct sunlight (e.g. Spain and Morocco) will cause them to overheat and switch off.

KTM MyRide navigation: You need to download the app to your smartphone which costs £8. And then download the maps to the phone. And may need a software update to display the navigation pictogram. Believe it only accepts incoming telephone calls, not outgoing, can’t access music playlists. The Bluetooth (optional) symbol on the combination instrument actually refers to a pairing of a device via KTM MyRide

Roadlok security: wheel lock, p/n 61012932000, about £350.

Alarm system: p/n 60112035000 costing about £288 plus a mounting kit p/n 63512938044 at about £40.

Crash protection: Forks crash bung (p/n 69109945000) swinging arm crash bung (p/n 61310945000), both about £34

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System: is the same p/n as the 790 Duke (64112932044) where it is about £114.

Low tinted R windshield for non-R models: 63508108000 about £67

High clear non-R windshield for R models: 63508008000 about £80

Headlight protection: 63514999033 about £65 ??

Akrapovič slip-on exhaust: p/n 63505979000, about £875

Carbon fuel tank protection: 63503990044, about £306 (due August). Much cheaper to just replace the standard covers if scratched (about £35 each?)

Lowering kit for 790 Adv (down to 800mm seat). No info yet.

Swapping seats between R and non-R: The single piece R seat is p/n 63507140000, about £116, whilst the non-R rider seat is p/n 63507040000, also about £116 and the pillion seat is p/n 63507047000, no price available.

Your dealer might give discounts on parts, otherwise it's simple enough to stick the part number into Google and check prices elsewhere. https://spmotorcycles.co.uk seem to have the lowest prices but many items are not in stock.

You can buy a black RoadLok security system from https://www.roadlokinternational.com/ for £132 plus shipping and import which saves a ton of money over the orange KTM version at £350. Luggage prices/thoughts

Luggage roll rack: Many adventure tourers would combine hard panniers with a luggage roll. The rear rack for this is p/n 60312978044 costs £86.70 but also needs the KTM carrier plate 60612910044, £112.98. Total cost £199.68. The KTM rack is much wider than most other offerings.

Generic KTM top box: a cheaper plastic solution with huge 48 litres storage, p/n 62012927000, about £261. Needs a carrier mount 60312927000, about £43 plus the carrier plate 60612910044, £112.98. So total cost about £417.

Touring Top Case: smart looking 36-litre top box, p/n 63512929544 about £437. Needs carried plate 60612910044, £112.98. Total cost £550.

Black aluminium Touratech top box: 38 litres, p/n 63512929044, about £393. This needs a carrier mount 63512927044, about £87, plus the KTM carrier plate 60612910044, £112.98. So total cost about £593, plus locks which don't come as standard!

Black aluminium Touratech panniers: p/n 63512922000 (45 litre) and 63512923000 (31 litre) are about £393 each, plus mounting rails are needed, p/n 63512912044 at about £235. Total cost £1020, plus locks which don't come as standard! Rails would look best if powder coated black.

Touring Case Set (panniers): 36 and 30 litre, p/n 63512932044, about £700. Needs mounting rails, p/n 63512012044 about £209. Total cost £909.

18-litre tank bag: 75012919000 about £139 (not waterproof, inner bag supplied)

13-16 litre QuickLock tank bag: 63512919000 about £175 (not waterproof, rain hood supplied)

My major concern with the Touratech 45/31 pannier set is the overall width of 106cm. By comparison the Bumot 40/36 pannier set is 98cm overall. And the set I've gone with are 35/31 (plus a few litres more in the integrated tool box) at just 92cm.

I heard that the cruise control units are sold out until September.(Ordered mine along with the bikes last November.)
Re luggage,I always go to Bumot these days,especially as I have both the ally Defender panniers and the soft Xtremada.So only need to buy frames for new bike.

As i'm not planning on any extended trips (max about 2 or 3 weeks) I'm thinking this time about soft luggage. Looking at Endurostan, Burmot & Magadan. I had an Endurostan tank bag on my KTM1190 which worked well and was 100% waterproof & I know Bumot is very well thought of too but do require a specialised rack.
Any other views on negotiated dealer discounts for 790 Adventure stuff? One member here suggested 15% and another about £400 discount on £700 of accessories but I suspect that included something off the bike price too. I know the R's are in short supply & I dont want that model anyway but i'm hoping o get something off the standard 790 Adventure bike & the accessories that i select.

I currently have the standard Touratech/KTM rack with Wolfman panniers. Not too wide and I can move them between bikes easily.

List price of the extras I had was over £700, base price of the non R model is 11099, they did the lot for 11400 OTR. That includes fitting the heated grips and cruise control switch when it eventually arrives. I don't think any dealer will be discounting either model as they're in short supply worldwide. My local dealer just sold the last R model and thinks he may only get one more this year. He has 2 non R models but again once those have sold he's on a waiting list for more. It's easy money for the dealers to charge over 300 quid for the quickshifter as the components are already fitted so it's just a case of activating the ECU to recognise it.
Just had the first service done and they had to reprogram the QS as it stopped working after they'd connected all the diagnostic equipment.

Most of that money goes to KTM so they will authorise the upgrade. Dealer can't do it without the code from Mattinghoffen.

Thanks to some neat video advice from Arsey I should be getting delivery in Spain of my Bumot aluminium panniers, rails, toolbox and top box in about ten day's time.
Although I'm impressed with the soft panniers I'm often solo and prefer the theft security of hard panniers.

The top box is for London where panniers interfere with filtering. When touring I'll probably take this off and replace with a luggage roll. The soft tailbag shown in the photo below could have fulfilled both functions and expands to about twice the height, but alas with poor security.

The SW-Motech crash bars I ordered for my 790 arrived.

First impressions are great finish and decent diameter tubing. The kit includes clear instructions including torque settings.

Fitting instructions include removal of the tank fairing before fitting mounting parts. Haven’t fitted yet, but all appears to attach to the frame not the fuel tank.

One annoyance is that the instructions say to use thread lock and the kit doesn’t include any.

They fit quite close to the tank so don’t increase the width too much, certainly not wider than the rack. Having scratched the heads on my GS with deep ruts in Wales and coming off on shale in France the idea is they take the brunt of any contact. Having said that my hope that they could be used to mount some running spots hasn’t worked out well.

'I'm not feeling lucky! The water leak was fixed Friday but for some reason while there the screen has died. They plugged in a screen that was swapped out because of the condensation issue and it booted up fine. So new screen ordered and no bike for my bank holiday plans!'

Very impressed with the bike away for the first time . Quicker than I was expecting and so light to chuck around compared to the 1290R.
Bumot Xtremadas are much more versatile than the ally alternatives.
I actually brought some large pictures with me which were all boxed and they went in easily.
Been shopping and got all sorts of shite in there including a wok. Obviously vital for any adventure bike

If so, I’ve been on and off the bike all day but find it just fine . I have bar risers on my bike and the riding position is very good . I’ve got the screen on low setting and it was fine even at 110mph .
Very clean air, similar to 1290R.
I’m actually getting a taller seat as a freebie from someone so will see what difference that makes.

I rode 6 hours on mine on Friday. It’s a horrible seat. I plan to order the new version ( how it should have been in the first place) and send this current one away for gel inserts.

I had a go on one of Sweet Lambs bikes last weekend at the Touratech Travel Event in the Brecon Beacons. I did about 45mins off road following one of their trainers. Loved it! My only negative comment would be how quiet they are however that is a double edged sword as people were riding them around the course all day not far from my tent and the fact that they were quiet was a bonus.
