2020 KTM 1290 Superduke vs 2019 1250 GS-HP

Look Arsey I realize if KTM's 1290 SADV has 155 hp and 133nm torque and the new V-4 Multistrada 170 hp and 125 nm torque BMW with the 1300 cc Boxer will emphasize on torque so I suspect 150 hp/nm which is fine but 160-170 hp wpuld be even better if the torque which translates into instant acceleration no matter what gear you are in is not sacrificed...In the end it really does not matter with bikes with upright seating position if you have 165 or 200 hp as the S1000R accelerates just as fast o-125 as the naked Panigale because the electronic intervenes cutting power trying to keep the front on the floor...The 1290SDR is even a tad slower despite having 184 hp on the same dyno.In that regard 160 hp would be enough for the GS as even more hp would only matter at speeds above 125 mph...Even the current 1250 is a lot of fun with 143 nm torque which is K1300S or Hayabusa territory.Only caveat is at 8000 rpm the party is over. With 2000 rpm more and a healthy kick at the top-end the engine would be perfect...:thumby:

18 pages and i am lost. Is it just me.:nenau

I can't believe this thread is still going :D

Just goes to show, spouting bollocks has far more substance than speaking the truth.

It's the equivalent of writing "please turn over" on both sides of a card

Arsey nice video...I want my 29 minutes back...;) THe guy is obviously a slow rider that does not like riding hard or fast cornering and talk a lot of shit...You could be faster on your 125 chinese Benelli than this "Hooligan" that talks about great handling and front end feel doing 30-80 in a straight line and complaints about the Ducati not wheelieing enough...What an idiot. For him the KTM might be the best as going through town and cracking the throttle gets the front up...What a Hooligan...We are impressed...What a Beast...Bike of the Year...:D
The Muppet show was more fun to watch...The internet is full of fouls and this guy definitely does not have a clue about fast riding and the right tools for it...Arsey take him out on a ride on your Benelli 125 on some twisty terrain and show him how great the 1290SDR really is...:D AS if you want to go fast on twisty and bumpy pavement and keep that throttle pinned between 7-10K rpm where the rev limiter comes on so hard that you will slam your nuts into the tank the KTM will turn into a total P.O.S....:thumb
But a real Hooligan that is ready to race on this great looking machine going through town in a straight line will love the great front end feel and lack of it when the front comes up...pre-pubercent 8-12 year olds will be impressed...:thumb

Ding-Dong I realize a lot of components come from China unfortunately...But 75% it way to high as engines, frame, exhaust, electronics as fuel-injection/ABS/TC are sourced in Germany or europe...As far as I know the wheels come from China hence the recall with loose spokes...But the U.S. sourced Hayes calipers which feel better than the Brembos as in firmness/less freeplay can leak and I hear get replaced by Brembos on the 2021 recall...I just don't like stuff from China as it means lower wages for all of us.No CMW F750/850/900 for me...But Triumph is already in Thailand,as Harley produces there too which is a joke considering the prices they ask...Globalism...buy low sell high...:( I don't care if a japanese brand produces their lower cc bikes in Thailand as they are cheap bikes...But so called premium brands should produce in their homelands ! Everything else is fake...And I don't care if BMW makes their car engines in Austria or the U.K. even if I would prefer Germany because they are called Bavarian and not Austrian or British Motor Works but at least they are still made in europe and not some third world country to make a quick buck on the back of the workers for a few fat shareholders...It is time that the pendulum swings back in favor of the working man !

If you want a truly Germanic master piece have a look at the VRS Horex; lovely; :beerjug::okay
When my boat comes in this will be my ride;

He's gone from talking a load of bollocks, to just frothing, gibbering nonsense.
Still the funniest thread on here though

Snelly the Horex is something else like a modern Muench...A VR6 like the Golfs and Corrados had the Passat even had a VR8...:thumb2 The origional Horex had even a supercharger and belt drive to the rear...But I pass and rather wait for the truly germanic masterpiece which is a lighter and more powerful street-only version of the GS called M1300GS...:thumb
Stanly ride the 1290SDR yourself and find a good twisty road and hold the throttle W.F.O. and you will know what I'm talking about...The guy in the video is obviously not a rider but a owner impressed by specs and marketing propaganda. Saying that the 1290SDR replaces his former favorite bike that was the supercharged 1000 cc Kawa says it all...I was actually surprised he did not pick the Triumph Rocket , any very fine motorcycle...Not to ride but to drool over the specs at least and cruise through town looking at the window fronts looking at the Hooligan on top...:aidan
To each their own...

Boxerlust, watch some more of his videos to pick up useful riding tips . You too could ride fast :-)

What's all this about wanting to hold the throttle "WFO" in the lower gears, then complaining that it wheelies all over the place?
You need some to learn some better throttle control. Or go back to a smaller bike.

I did not see this video.

After I saw his video where he was able to detect a 'huge difference' after having his bike HT'd he lost every bit of creditability in my book.

To me, he has demonstrated total lack of judgment, detecting massive change out of nothing... His 'message' is worth less than a piss in the wind...

I don't ever recall seeing you on the podium at the TT!

And why is that ?
Do you have personal experience of HT ?

And why is that ?
Do you have personal experience of HT ?

It has been proven again and again that there is no substance to his 'tune'. Of all the tested bikes there has to this day NEVER been found any trace of tuning in ANY of the tested bikes.

The HT guy shows his desk of seemingly impressive equipment in various videos.
It's all analouge, with no digital recording capability and is completely useless handling and reading a digital ECU. And his explanations published in the videos are completely meaningless. They make no sense..
