2020 KTM 1290 Superduke vs 2019 1250 GS-HP

That one post re the rev limiter and the brakes should sum up BL expertise and knowledge never mind his self professed riding god status

He could have said the limiter coming on was like hitting a brick wall; metaphoricly of course.:D

Well done, you managed to resist for a whole 12 hours !!!

Please, let’s not start another Hilltop thread.
Let’s just agree that a pensioner sat in his armchair in Norway knows more about the subject than the many 1000s of customers, including numerous race teams such and multiple TT winners such as Michael Dunlop....
You’ve all been fooled, every single one of you :-)
...............

I have not seen any pictures og Dunlops bike covered with HT stickers :aidan

Anyway, about 1000s of people being fooled, why not? We have just witnessed over 70 million people voting for a Moran in a recent election...

To anyone that knows a bit of ECUs and programming, what the guy claims and explains regarding the secret tuning is first class BS.

When I was last there in May 2016 I had to wait whilst Geoff finished off fettling a Hawk Racing BMW S1000RR.

The very same bike won the Senior TT a few weeks later with Michael Dunlop aboard.
Obviously it was all in the head and Hilltop added nothing to the party :-)
What does Michael Dunlop know about bikes ???? Compared to a scandi keyboard warrior !!
Clever guy, that Geoff.Managed to fool thousands of bikers and even top race teams with the fastest men anywhere on two wheels on the road.

Yet a pensioner in Norway knows better.

Tedious and very boring. And I won’t be responding again ,unlike your claim last night.

Boxerlust will be along shortly, you can hand over the Baton of Bullshit, old man :-)

I'm not saying the HT guy knows nothing.
I'm saying he's fooling you guy's because you don't understand the dynamics of computers and ECU's.

The TT bikes are a far cry from street bikes.
A streetbike is equipped to comply with the environment regulations, while a racing bike is not street legal and may be tuned for maximum performance. Engine components are not shared. This type of tuning holds no similarities with the alleged secret tune.

The 'secret tune' that is sold to the 'racing wannabees' is not claimed to be a regular tuning. It's a conn and load of bs that is sold to people that knows very little about real tuning, and he trows in technical words that may sound impressive to laymen.

Anyway.
Spend your money as you like, and be happy :beerjug:

PS.
You know nothing about my age :hippy

Snelly got 100 points...:thumb As he got it right ! The rev limiter at 10Krpm comes on as hard as hitting the proverbial brakes...I forgot to mention accelerating hard on the KTM below 4000 rpm (Arseys 125 cc fake chinese Benelli probably pulls harder in these situation) will only cause chain slack that you hope it was not riveted on monday mornings...:D
And I don't post videos as I don't gopro myself but we can always ride together and then we see if I look at your rear-end or you at mine and for how long...:thumb2
Arsey you don't have to buy me a KTM Teeshirt for Christmas...I buy you a piece of ass if you decide to come in TJ anyways...;) And a piecture of you with the zebra that is a fake donkey for your mates at home.Just don't expect the donkey-show as for that you have to go to Holland or Germany...:D
And if we become life-long friends afterwards I let you buy me the M1300GS for christmas in 2022 with all the money you have...:thumb
Merry Christmas and a happy 2021 when the scam-demic finally will be over to all of you !

Has he just threatened to bum Arsey?

Buggered if I know.

B.t.w. about the H-T ECU reflash, waste of money or not...On the 1250 it definitely is.Otto Leirer / STC a guy who actually gets some additional power for certain bikes had a interesting video with a 1250 and Akra EU-3 slip-on on the dyno...Fuelling and mapping even under the EU-C02 terror Dictatorship on the 1250 is close to perfect :thumby: Theoretical power or torque improvements are only minimal according to Otto...No need to waste your hard earned on a few lines of code.
The new VW-DUC MS V-4 sounds awful looking at the first videos online and it does not look like it has the bottom end torque of a GS (-18 nm) and at a lofty rpm where the GS already sputters off (8750rpm).But 170 hp is definitely nice to have...:thumb2
We'll see what BMW comes up with in a year or two answering Volkswagens challenge with the MS-V4...:D
I myself prefer twins anyways...;)
Like I said it will me much easier for BMW to get more power out of the Boxer if you see Porsche gets 525hp and high torque out of the 4.0 911 GT3 which would translate to a 175hp 1330 GS...Than Ducati or KTM getting a decent T-L front-end and clean/low maintenance shaft drive on their GS competitors...Looks like the japanese have already given up or should give up looking at the new 2021 ZX10-R...

Then again BMW can’t even be arsed to design a TFT that is theft-proof.
Three clips and it’s gone in seconds, rendering the bike useless.

Just for clarity, are others any better?

Ducati dash are bolted on from the rear but as they cracked often, it was a pain for dealers to have to strip off the nose, The bmw approach solves that problem but creates a different one from the owners perspective.

How do KTM fix theirs to the 1290?
Must be fairly sturdy given the brutal power that the bike dishes out.

Jonny Rea may have something to say about your last sentence.

The rev limiter at 10Krpm comes on as hard as hitting the proverbial brakes..

What else is the rev limiter suppose to do? Engines with big pistons have a lower rev limit than those with smaller pistons in broad sense of speaking.

The rev limiter may act in one of two ways.

- #1 it may just cut the ignition.
- #2 it may reduce the throttle input, as if you eased of the throttle.

#1 was tho common way of doing it prior to e-throttle. This sudden cut may feel like described in Bl's case.

#2 Is gaining ground as most bikes now comes with e-throttle. When the #2 type activates you feel like just running out of power, and feels less dramatic than #1.

Snelly...Jonny Rea probably would win on a Schwinn like Honda builds the worst bike in MotoGP...From Hero to ZERO in 2020...It is Marquez or Nothing.Without Rea Kawasaki would have had as many wins as Honda did without Marc M. But without him the racing was much better:thumb2 If someone buys a certain bike or not based on MotoGP or WSBK wins he has a lot to learn as the bikes on the course in racing have in much in common with the stuff we get to buy as the sticker on the fairing/tank...That is why I took Ready to Race by KTM so serious and had high expectations and was surprised about the lack of it...;) But Hooligans going straight up and down the road seem still impressed...Best bike for 2020...I.L.M.A.O.:D
Tannemann...Of course a rev limiter cuts ingnition/fuel off to prevent the engine from damage through over-rev...But if he bikes makes peak power at 10000 rpm and at 10100 or so it shuts off it is useless on the track and you have to short shift at probably 9500 not to run into the limiter...
Arsey...Nothing is theft proof...Low life losers and dirt bags who can't respect other peoples stuff need to be shot...9mm , not a different pin on the loom is the answer as sticky fingers will get into and will destroy anything when the sun goes down...:( AS I don't think it was another BMW rider in need of a TFT screen after his warranty had ran out..:comfort

I know how it works. I work with traction control systems. The question is bit rhetorical if BL complains about a rev limiter doing its job.
