Unfortunately it is my first bike and I have lost all my confidence in riding therefore need to buy something smaller.
Are you interested?
Sorry, No. I just bought a new 1250GSA. I was just curious. Why, what happened? (being nosy tell me to mind my own business)
That's a shame. Anyone will tell you it's a fantastic bike. If there was some way you could keep it I would suggest you do that.

So being honest.
I passed my bike test January last year always loved the look of the gs
Never thought I would own one.
I have mild cerebral palsy on my right side so I’m not as strong as I would like to be.
And the more I rode the bike the more I got scared I would fall off even tho I was upright and riding in a straight line.
Dual carriage ways and motorways scared the hell out of me even had to pull onto the hard shoulder a couple of times to reset myself.

I have been out with other riders and trainers and still just can’t shake my fear.

I think the bike is too big and heavy for me and therefore scared me out of riding it.

If you know anyone who is interested please send them my way bike is in excellent condition very low mileage

I did try that then everytime I go back out on my own I’m scared of coming off and dread dual carriage ways and motorways.
That's easy. Build your confidence on minor roads. Totally understand where you are coming from it seems such a shame.

If I were closer I'd offer to ride with you for a while.

I'm a confident rider but I very rarely use dual carriageways or motorways anyway they are no fun.

Thanks for the offer.
I think the bike is just too heavy for me to handle and I would do better on a smaller maybe lighter bike and take small steps.
Because I really enjoyed the freedom of riding.

I believe that all on the forum will respect your openness regarding recognising your limits... Many have faced - and continue to face - similar issues even after years of riding as ailments, ageing joints, and progressive loss of muscle mass take their toll on handling a larger bike. GSAs seem to be the pinnacle, with layered peaks below that.

There has been a large transition to scooters (search 'ADV 350' on the forum, for example.)

The main thing is to manage your physical condition within the limitations that you recognise and stay well.

Good luck with your sale - and with finding a level of bike/scooter that will give you the pleasure of riding out.

Yeah I totally get it. It is a big imposing machine. That's part of its charm and one of the things I love about it. Just don't want to regret it once you get your confidence back.

I still think its not the right decision but you have to do what you feel is right for you. Fully respect it.

You'll sell it easy with riding season upon us. Good luck with the sale.

I don't blame you, a 1250GSA isn't really first bike material.. It's a tall, heavy and hugely powerful bike (relative for a new rider). Also, once your confidence goes on a bike, selling it is almost inevitable.
You might be better off picking up a cheap Himalayan or CB500X etc if you like the adventure style to build up your confidence. Best of luck.

Thank you I just need to sell this bike then free up my money to go try other bikes that may suit me better.
I’ve had no interest as of yet tho

I realised my mistake of going straight for 1250 I went in to buy the 750 GS that I did my training in but got convinced on a deal on a brand new 1250 GSA

There are some great bikes in the 700cc-800cc range. That market has seen a bit of a boost. Probably a bit early in the year (weather-wise) but as we get closer to the spring weather I would have thought you would see some movement.

GLWTS, GSs & GSAs are good sellers, and the 1250 was certainly the best of the LCs, so you should have no problem selling it. Getting something smaller is definitely the way to go in your case to help you build your confidence back up once the weather improves. I went on a BMW skills day at Cadwell Park in the early noughties and a bloke there had just passed his test and the salesman sold him a big K series BMW, much to the amazement of a few other riders who'd also passed their test recently. He dropped it at least twice at low speed and got some 1:1 slow speed coaching while the rest of us razzed round the track. We didn't see him after that so guess he went off home quietly with advice to get something smaller. He was a 747 pilot and a bit of a cock, but even so it wasn't nice to see him struggle.

I have thought about doing a track day not to go crazy fast just to build my confidence up.
Hopefully I will get interest in my bike soon and I can look at what will fit me better and start getting my confidence back.

It wasn't sold a "Track day" as such, but more a skills day that you do to hone your skills in relative safety away from.the general public and was run by the BMW Club. The IAM do similar days too and in both cases you need to be a member to participate so either of those might be an option?

Funny you should say that, I'm doing a skills day at Thruxton with the iam and a bmw club day at Cadwell in the next few months, done both before and can highly reccomend them.

Sorry to hear this but yes the GSA is a big bike especially if unsure

If you are still interested in the smaller BMW have you asked the dealer what they would be prepared to give you in p/x.

It is not an ideal situation but it may help solve your problem
