Other chats available for KTM doomsday gossip 😂 Let's keep this chat on point...if we can.

I’m not doomsdaying.

Far from it.

My point is that with triumph selling shirt loads of 400s KTMs release of this may be well timed.

I’d trade my 790 for one tomorrow.

Ducati Monster 900 & 600 was for Duc back in the day when they went on their 916 / 888 ego trip. I also think the Scrambler line up brought some volume sales back too.

I guess it's possible that it keeps them current, market wants wise. At this price though they would have to sell g'zillions of them to influence the balance sheet.

For me, the kit is already available pretty much. The motor might have a tweak but it'll be much the same as current 390. They know how to make frames don't they. And suspension and brakes and wheels and fuel tanks and wiring looms and lights. This lower tech bike offers very little risk warranty wise and I have no problems buying one regardless of the overall situation. I feel positive about it and if anyone tries to bring me down from my cloud of positivity....me no listening.

I think most of the bikes in last 10 years or so have been pretty good reliability wise, I have clocked 50,000 miles on 3 1X90 adventures, mates 1190 was flogged of at 68k and going strong.

Service items will be around for donkeys years regardless of what happens to KTM, and most manufacturers don't keep spares forever anyway, although its why I dislike TFT screens, keyless ignitions and semi-active suspension as they are most likely to cause you a headache down the line either due to costing more than the bike is worth, or simply no longer available....

...and with all modern bikes you have expensive ECU's motors operating the throttle and all sorts of guff that will prevent them running on forever like a lot of 80s and 90s stuff does.

Id still buy a KTM if the price was right, people happily pay £20k for a GS with warranty, but not £12k for a new KTM with a dubious one right now - but its still under 3-4 year old out of warranty BMW / Ducati price.

Come spring if nobody has bought my 1290 I am going to service it and ride it for another year, then maybe next winter get the suspension serviced / reworked, ECU remapped and just keep riding it until it falls apart, not like the new stuff is much better anyway (goes for BMW / Ducati etc)

With all the dealers stuck with stock (not just KTM) I think if you have cash and fancy a new bike there has never been a better time.

They'll need to sell a shed load of them to plug the huge hole in their finances. Can't imagine there's much profit as it's got to be competively priced in a crowded segment. I wish them well, as a previous owner of 3 KTM's

Looks ace, and I don’t even really like KTMs.

I’m looking forward to the next six months, with the new BMW 450 and this KTM competing against the newcomers from Kove and CFMoto.

Looks really nice and could be tempted by one with a decent discount :augie

Interesting design solution for the exhaust though - best not stall it doing a river/deep ford crossing

Yes Yes, but let's look on the bright side.

It's already pretty cheap Paul. That's the good thing about cheaper bikes compared to the £20k variety. you could probably have two of these and match the depreciation of a big Adv.

I'll add to this that when I last looked at an EXC500 it was going to cost best part of £10k. Then to make a lightweight adv out of it more £££ Look what you get for your bucks with the 390.

£5600 for the enduro r and £6600 for the adventure r not sure about the x model price but im glad they are well priced.
they're going to be hard to get hold of I expect my25-390-adventure-_3_.jpg.webp

Do you think KTM will ever launch the 390R enduro in 2025 given their current plight ?

First deliveries due in April, but restricted numbers per dealer, same as the 390 Adventure R. Popped to Judd Racing in Notts to have a chat today about them.

I think it was 3 bikes per dealer for 2025. Not sure of the split between Enduro and Adventure models

That's useful to know. I think I'm No.3 on the list. I'm waiting on some reviews...MT450 vs 390. The MT has some advantage as they've sold a load and there's already an aftermarket for bit n bobs. If the KTM's end up low volume then with KTM's current issues the idea of tooling up for aftermarket parts seems a tad risky. The likes of Outback crash bars and the like. Things like lights and trinkets that are generic won't create a problem. The Mosko Reckless throw over luggage should be simple to fit. So actually I'm thinking the 390 won't need much adding to be honest. :nenau
