2027 KTM 690 Rally

Very entertaining video and great photography, much more engaging than the average promo vid.

Shame at the start there’s the pretence and all the talk to try and give the impression it’s all been, and going to be spontaneous without any storyboard planning. No need for that in my opinion and devalues it a

Look forward to reading about all the mods folk on here do to make me even more jealous 🙂
Completely agree
I know marketing works but I could never be involved in such a wankfest.
That trip had as much adventure as a shopping trip to Tescos by someone with OCD
And they could have done that tripon a 15 year old CRF 250 Rally and it would have been 99% as good
I’m far more likely to visit Bosnia now than I am to buy a KTM

At today’s lunch stop I had a chat with Mr Birch re his initial thoughts on the bike.
He said he’d been quite disparaging about the 690 in the past but felt this new model has been upgraded across the board, not just the additional tanks and nav tower / screen.
He said the gearbox was much better and the whole bike felt more nimble. He was very impressed. ( though he’s a brand ambassador so I suppose he might say that anyway).
Look forward to test riding one in the flesh.
I’m betting it comes in around £12k which is too much for me but ho hum.
DB
I’m hoping it’s nearer £11k max but reckon your guess is more likely .
Then it’s another £1200 by the time you’ve added Tech Pack, heated grips and rear rack etc .

Bargain🤩😊
Half the price of a 1300 GS Adv and twice the fun 🤣

a few dealers now listing it at £11,399 on websites, one says for November delivery.

I've just bought the 390 Adventurer R and it's fantastic. I paid around £6,400 with the quick shifter, the 690 will be very good but is really worth another £5,000 on top of the 390?

Sounds a great buy and a stunning looking bike(y)

690 have got expensive, wicked fun bikes though the suspension and performance is top notch - one of those bikes I'm glad they still make (seat is pure enduro though - aka torture rack).

Probably not .

Bit like the X-ADV not being worth double the price of the ADV350.

But I’d really like the new Rally. Just can’t justify it really as would use it onroad 90% of the time like I did with my 701LR.
And my Vstrom 800 does a similar job .

Would be great though with a Renazco seat

Spoke to James and he could easily do one without raising the OE seat height .

Must resist must resist ….. 😜

It's very good and I'm very pleased with it.

Great to ride, engine is very willing, gearbox and QS V good.

I think it's great value and I'm pleased Martin persuaded me to buy it :p

Wish he was nearer so he could try it because I think he'd buy one.
Horses for courses. If it suits you then that’s great, but I do t think the two are comparable

Adventure and trail motorcycle comparison

The four bikes cover quite different parts of the adventure/enduro market. The Suzuki DR-Z4S is primarily a trail bike, the Kove 450 Rally is designed for long-distance off-road adventure riding, the KTM 690 Enduro R offers considerably more performance, and the Honda CRF300 Rally prioritises accessibility, reliability and touring comfort.

Power-to-weight comparison

The KTM is in a different performance class, producing almost twice the power per kilogram of the Suzuki.

Which is best for different uses?

Riding requirement My preference Reason
UK green lanes Suzuki DR-Z4S Good suspension, ground clearance and manageable power
Long-distance off-road adventures Kove 450 Rally Huge fuel capacity and rally protection
Road riding and motorway sections KTM 690 Much stronger engine
Gentle trail riding and touring Honda CRF300 Rally Friendly engine, lower seat and wind protection
Fast off-road riding KTM 690 Excellent performance and suspension
Simple, economical ownership Honda CRF300 Rally Proven, relatively unstressed engine

Three particularly interesting differences

1. Weight: Despite having much smaller engines, the Honda and Suzuki are only around 9–11 kg lighter than the KTM. This makes the KTM’s performance particularly impressive.

2. Fuel range: The Kove’s 31-litre capacity is exceptional. Its UK specification gives it more than twice the fuel capacity of any of the others. However, a full tank adds considerable weight.

3. Seat height: All four are fairly tall motorcycles, but the Honda’s 885 mm seat is noticeably more accessible than the others.

For a combination of Devon green lanes, road riding and occasional longer European adventures, I’d be particularly interested in comparing the Suzuki DR-Z4S against the KTM 690 Enduro R. The Kove becomes much more attractive if longer off-road expeditions are a priority.

One important distinction: the Kove 450 Rally also comes in different specifications, including higher-powered versions, so it is worth checking exactly which model a UK dealer is offering.
