2027 Versys 900/900 SE

This, or a CB1000GT for another £200? And it comes with panniers.

It’s down to personal taste .
I’ve obviously not seen the Versys yet but having sat on a CB1000GT I certainly wouldn’t want one .
And the Honda may have more power but most reviews say it needs reviving to access the power whereas it looks like the Versys has more midrange where you want it .
Bit like the Transalp versus Vstrom 800. The former has 92 bhp compared to ‘only’ 82 in the Vstrom but the Suzuki is a much nicer ride with way more midrange .

I have a 2024 Versys 1000SE which has less BHP than the new 900...and weighs, I would assume, quite a bit more. However, I think I will stick to what I've got as I doubt the extras will fit the new bike.

No indication of the weight on the K website or MCN preview. Needs to be under 200kg to garner interest from those looking at the Tiger Sport.
Under 200kg? In your dreams I’m sorry to say, but I reckon it will be perhaps a little heavier than the Tracer9 but lighter than the Honda.

I really like the looks of it, and it could well be the replacement for my Tracer9. I owned a 2013 Versys 1000 for 5 years, went all over Europe on it and nothing failed.

The problem I find with many bikes is they start off as a tiny little naked, then put 2-3 foot long bar risers on the thing and call it a tourer / adventure bike, and when I sit on it the bars seem OK, but my legs are no better off than on my 1988 TZR250.

When the KTM 790 came out I thought it might be good for the Mrs, but even she said it was way too cramped, and we ended up with a 1090 for her to tour on....

...Still searching for a genuine replacement for her TDM900 which is comfortable, roomy enough, has loads of low-mid range and enough top end for the odd brisk multi-car overtake, the Versy may just fit the bill.

Try the V Strom 800RE. "Only" 82 bhp but it feels like 110. The engine is a peach.

The TDMs are great do it all's and were years ahead of the game; but as you say the new Versy may just be the one;; i'am suprised she has'nt found anything in the Mt09 range; although comfort might not be as good as her TDM. 200klo and a 100 rear wheel bhp is the sweet spot; even more so these days.

I had a TDM850 mk 2 with the TRX motor. Great bike and I should have kept it longer than 2.5 years. My V85 has similar power and torque. Needs a bit more planning to go past multiple cars than its predecessor, a 125bhp R1200RS. Comfy though.

Agreed.
Exactly what they did to the Tracer 9.
Enormous bar risers above the top yoke.
This Versys might be similar

Centre stand should be standard equipment on a sports tourer not a mark up add on; i suppose you have one fited to the standard model and keep it under £11,000 that wiuld be a start; personally i'am not bother about the radar; the spotlights ; the rim tape and a few other bits and bobs; but that's me.

The problem is they still think we want to ride offroad and fit a fucking ferris wheel up front, I can leave with a 19" and happy with longer than sportsbike travel for comfort an "all roads" ability, but no chance I am going to wrestle a 200+ KG bike offroad.

TBH only rode a much earlier tracer, I found it quite "Buzzy" hopping off a big twin, seemed to be a real rev monster with very little bottom end and a screaming top end - not M1000RR, but way down in th emid range on the TDM which pulls bloody nicely from 3,000rpm - feels almost like a Turbo Diesel in the way it packs the punch in the low-mid range.

I also remember it feeling very cramped in the leg department, YMMV, but with a 34" inside leg and ageing clogged veins I need a decent amount of room, and the Mrs is also tall with long legs, and she preferred my 1090 / 1190 for touring over the TDM, but the TDM will always remain as she loves it for little runs for a pub lunch etc.

WIll go and try a few bikes next spring, but normally I end up thinking "not at that price" these days, hence decided to stick with my KTM 1290.

But the Honda looks like a potential best buy with the panniers thrown in, especially if you go for a used one at about a year old
