ok so i need a new set of tyres for the bike but the wheels or should i say spoke are less than good so rather than pay for a new set of spokes i can have a 21 inch rim laced with new spokes to the front hub .
just as cheap allmost as replacing the spokes and i can get somewhere back to where i started from with the melch bike .
oh and then i can get new tyres .
i know it does not make sense in any shape or form but hey ho

I'm sorry....I've forgotten which Harley is currently in your possession (albeit fleetingly)....... and I don't like 21" skinny rims on any Harley that's going to be ridden properly...oh....wait....yeah, you'll be fine... go for it....:D

'S all well and good changing the front wheel Dave but then your rake and trail will all be shonky. Besides the obvious handling issues, the bottom frame rails will no longer be parallel to the road which is a style faux pas of magnificent proportions IMO. Those Progressive Suspension chaps do a cartridge fork insert that will lower it accordingly but the costs just keep on climbing.

Oh and ignore Pingu. You can put a wider rim on and get a wider tyre that means it will handle just as badly as a stock Road King. :D

.... blah, blah, blah..... rake.... blah blah ...trail..... blah,blah,blah... frame rails ....blah,blah... cartridge fork.........blah, blah, blah....

You daft old goat.......what does Dave know of these things? You might as well be talking Swahili.....

Fair comment. I did put the word 'style' in there to try and hold his interest but on reflection....what the hell was I thinking?

if it has to be lowered then so be it ,and yes i know those words i just choose to have a gribby little man in dirty overalls do it for me while i flick through the lateset edition of "gentlemans world ".

besides that melch pingu is a fine one to talk he rode around on a purple yes i said purple bike thats as good as saying i want to shag grayson perry

Just when I thought we had an interesting thread it all goes down hill like most :blast

two problems exist ,one is the 21 inch wheel is only 40 spoke and i would like minimum of 60 to 80 spoke .two i was only going to renew the front as its down to cost as i am saving for a triumph bonneville at the moment and allso have one holiday to france and one to japan this year .
three . would i be really happy with 40 spoke no i dont think so i shall for the moment just buy two new tyres and keep the std rims untill such times i can buy new wheels and new springs etc and do the job right .
i want it to have the same stance as a dog dragging its arse across a nylon carpet

That will require new short rear shocks, fender extenders, a lowered front end and a 21" front wheel (the number of spokes are up to you). It would probably be cheaper to buy a bike that has already had it done as the market for these things is limited to people who buy touring bikes in an attempt to look like extras from SOA :)

Shorter shocks like as standard on a Road King Custom you mean? Anyone know of one of these with all said mods done?

(Psst...loathe as I am to admit knowing anything about SOA...but they rode Dynas)

i have heard of the programme but have never watched it nor ever will .
i have no wish to look like a son of apathy i do however like the bagger lowrider look i believe it was allready here before sons of apathy was aired

If you want the arse dragging look you'll need to 'slam it' further than that :cool

The SOA rode Dynas in series 1, except for a softail, a trike and a glide. The other gangs rode all manner of things, the Mexican lot road baggers with huge apes. By Series 5 everyone seemed to be riding different bikes even in one episode as they got shot up with monotonous regularity ........ or so I'm told :augie

I do not have a television set to look at, however I do realize your all referring to a movie on there.

JD,
if you have a hub and a rim that need re-stringing give us a shout.

Dave most likely wouldn't get it over the speed humps at the end of his road though. Imagine that...that wouldn't be funny at all :D

See now, I would never have admitted to knowing that. Fair play to you being that comfortable with what you like though. :augie
