Check out what Honda want for checking valve clearances. That's usually around 24K and on top of normal service costs.

I had mine serviced this week & share your pain.
But it isn't daylight robbery when you look around the place. Running a staffed showroom is a very expensive game, and not much income seems to come in between Oct & March.
At last someone that knows the score. Get all these keyboard whingers to experience the actual day to day running of a dealership for a month and see what they thought after that.

Come on then, you better explain why![]()
its not as simple as that though is it, a big part of it is the "service experience" - and in 15 years of year round biking I've yet to come across a dealer (of any make that I've owned) treat me like THEY WANT my custom!
and there is no getting away from BMW (parts) prices - I was quoted over £200 for changing brake pads during a routine service - do they think I'm bonkers and have a bottomless pit of cash?! even if they do last 3 times longer than other pads, thats mental!![]()
Rich
I've just had a full major service on a 2 year old German car and paid £350, I just can't believe £475 is value for money. Last year I paid £300 for a 18k service this year £475 that's nearly £800 in 2 years for run of the mill servicing[
If we're talking utter bollox and greed as you eloquently put then you might want to consider the car services prices you've just quoted which probably amount to nothing more than an oil and filter change and a cursory check over given the service schedules on modern cars. £350 for an oil change mmmm I rest my case.
