24k service 1200gs

North Oxford Garage are very friendly and helpful, they will tell you Tel.01865319000 :D

You could try an independant like Steptoe who will do the job better and cheaper and you will have the requisite stamp in the book:thumb

I'm considering going down this route.......coming up to 2yrs old and 24k.....but I've been put off by the fact that BMW are more likely to support an out of warranty claim if you service your bike with them......I guess its a financial gamble - will you save more money by using an independent than you would if you had a 'big' out of warranty claim ?

Good call,
had my 24K done there.... excellent service.. at his new facility... £332 ish.... Great value... (that's on an 07 GSA)

Regards

SWMBO had her F650GS twin serviced there a couple of weeks ago. Steve and Phil did an excellent job and the service came to £115 for the 12k service (I had changed the oil and filter). Steve is also selling DP brake pads at very reasonable prices (we bought the pads for front and rear as they were not quite worn enough to replace).

The warranty will still be valid if i were to service the bike, regardless of what anyone tells you..................

24k on an 2010 would cost around £280 (which includes alternator belt and final drive oil change).

Plenty of free loan bikes available.

We've switched to our local 'Steptoe' as the charges at the local BMW dealer were getting silly, especially charging £20+ to adjust the chain in addition to £200+ for a service.

An immediate sense of relief that our bikes are in the hands of a proper mechanic who does what needs doing rather that what the anaytics say.

And that was for a shaft drive:D:augie

I had a ring around today , 4 dealers only managed to speak to anyone on one occasion, Vines Guildford sounded very helpfull £380.00 approx assuming the brakes were bled at last service which they should have been.
Bike had a minor replacement shock under warranty at some stage otherwise its all good.
waiting to collect the bike after purchase soon from a non BMW outlet.

Absolutely agree - if the bike is still within warranty. I'm talking about the 'good will' factor if the bike is outside the manufacturers 24mnth warranty and something 'big' goes wrong..... In the past I've been on the receiving end of good-will by BMW cos I've made the point that I've serviced by bikes with them for 12yrs etc. Just another point of view.

Reality is that I will go to an independent and stick the savings to one side as contingency. The miles I do mean that a FBMWSH doesn't make much difference when I come to sell.

Won't be this month though.......3xroad fund licence, (2xcar); 2 new tyres needed on bike, mot on car and my boys birthday. Why does it all arrive at once ?!
