Eveneing all,
Thinking of buying a 1200GSA thats 3k away from its 24k service.
What's done on a 24k service, can it be done by the average home mechanic and if not, how much does the bugger cost??
Cheers up front for any help:beerjug:

Short answer is yes it can be self serviced - its made easier if you have a few additional tools though. 24K is a change of alternator belt and plugs in addition to the usual oils etc.

Don't panic, valve clearances are a doddle don't let it put you off its not like doing an inline 4cyl engine.

If you aren't 100% sure of doing it yourself, get hold of Steptoe, he'll give you a sensible cost and book in with him. The job will be done properly and way cheaper than your local dealer:thumb2

valve clearances are done at every 6000 miles anyway. Besides, how soon will you reach the 3k mark?

24k service on 2011 GSA cost me £318 at BMW main dealer a couple of weeks back including K1600GT loan bike.

Does it include the valve clearences too?

I do all my own servicing, have done since 30k. I'm just about to do the 66k one and I'm only on a 58 plate. I found youtube a great help, pretty much everything is on there. The only problem I've found with doing your own service is that you can't reset the service indicator without specialist tools(GS911) but the cost saving is worth it and you know it's been done right :thumby:

A GS911 does so much more than just resetting the service indicator and for what it does, it's a bargain.

I know, one day when I've saved some more dosh ill get myself one. I've got the car equivalent (Vcds) and that's fantastic :thumb2
