24k Service

Its not that im a snob, its just i changed the oil once and the clutch didn't like it so its pretty much the only thing i stick to is the bmw oil, which i can live with :thumby:
Oil must be JASO MA2 rated to be compatible with wet clutches.

Shocking that to get my bike serviced and another years warranty added by BMW I am looking at around £950.

I’ll take my chances from now on thanks and keep the change.

With all these stories about high service costs... I'm glad I'm out of warranty and can do it all myself. I know it's done properly, I can give things a good clean whilst I'm there and it's not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon... and all for the cost of the materials (which I can shop around for, to get the good prices).

Just sayin'....

Dealer suggested my bike required a `brake caliper clean` at last service at an additional cost of 70 quid. I declined.
I haven`t seen any reference to a fuel filter(replacement) in either the owners manual nor the workshop repair manual...
Well
At an Indie I had a full service (albeit on a 1150 GS)

Oil & Filter
Gearbox oil
Final drive oil
Brake Fluid front & rear
Clutch fluid
Valves checked (& 2 adjusted🤩🤩)
Fuel filter changed, tank cap stripped and cleaned and fuel drain cleaned out
Air filter changed
4 new plugs
Front and rear brakes fully stripped & cleaned
Alternator belt changed and renewed
All moving bushes cleaned & lubed (Gear lever & linkage/brake pedal/side stand and centre stand)

All for £350 (admittedly no vat as not vat registered)

No, I'd prefer it was all inclusive rather than additional charges.
You like the surprise of additional cost when you put your bike in?

So you want to pay for work which isn't done, so you don't get a 'surprise' bill........

Any time your vehicle goes in for a service there's plenty of scope for additional charges! Whether that be valve clearances, brakes, tyres, oil leaks......A garage will always advise and ask you prior to carrying out any work. That's why no bill is ever a surprise - you authorise the extra work, not them.

Absolutely agree, once I am out of warranty I am on to 90% of it myself. After finding out that you and I get different prices for the same work at the same workshop all i can see is a money grabbing scam outfit. Loyalty died years ago when western liberal ideology was imported from America and business 101 made us numbers and not customers. Hence we are now clients as our "custom" is irrelevant any more.
