It turns out there's a small museum in the village. I called in, via the farmhouse next door where Alwyn the proprietor lives and he gave me a very full and interesting talk about the exhibits and the history of the concentration/internment camp which was used to house German P.O.W.'s before and after the Irish were incarcerated here.
If you have any interest in Irish history I would say this place is a must visit and was much more than I expected.
No admission charge but donations by cash are well received.

Our waitress this morning was a local lassie, Manon, who's 1st language is Welsh, a fact she's very proud of and rightly so.
She tells me that, much like Irish, the Welsh language is making a real resurgance and is becoming increasingly popular with young people which, IMO, iis great.
