2610 Software updates

Guys, I have the 2610 and I have noticed that I may need to update the mapping to 3. summut or 6.3 I think, do you have to have the GPS plugged into the computer when you get updates from Garmin or can I just down load them to mapsource.

are there any do's & dont's or is hit the dowload key and it finds it's own way to the software on your PC.

just log on and download no problems. No you don't need to have your GPS connected.

Mutley, which mount did you get for the 2610?

How do you connect power etc?

I'm swaying back to the 2610 over the Quest now!!

Jon the cable connectors for the quest will soon be sorted as will a decent mount. Get the quest and save yourself some dosh.

Hi Jon,

I bought the Touratech Mount £66.79 very nice bit of kit although a bit pricey, looks the Dogs do dars IMOP, I got the power cable from GPS warehouse and wired it straight to the battery, I crimped so bat connectors to the wires bought at Halfords a quid or so I think.

I wanted to be able to use it with the bike off rather than have to turn the key and run the bike with engine or engine off but all my other kit draining the battery at least this way I can sit in silence doing what I need to without anything else draining the battery.

It works very well i just cable tied it along the frame and went under the tank to my cross bar, looks good and works well.

Richie so it will update the GPS next time I connect it then or do I still have to double click on the file that was downloaded, sorry to ask

I'll get my mount and cable sorted out next.

Put mine on a MigSel mount so that it sits just above the Speedo. This is a great position for me as I can catch any changes in my peripheral vision, plus I'm less tempted to play with it whilst driving.

Isn't the MigSel mount for the R1150GS?
Mine is the R1100GS.

Hi Jon,

Mine took over 10 days to deliver as I also ordered the Garmin bag which was out of stock, but I understand as long as they have stock they normally get it to you in 3 days poss 4, very impressed with Aspid always respond to emails within a couple of hours.

I did watch the Vid it was very useful, PM Nick Marshall and get on the list.

I would suggest you get the power cable ordered as this will also take a week to get to you, get it from GPS warehouse its the cheapest around.
