2610 Waypoints and Routes

When I make a waypoint or route and save it on the laptop it doesn't seem to stay in the slide out box on the left after I close off Mapsource.
From what I understand all your routes and waypoints should be in there, what am I doing wrong?

It's saves them in your garmin file .........Click-file-open and select your saved file
