276c firmware update :(

Just installed the latest firmware to my 276c, 3.21 beta, all went well until I tried the voice and all I got was strangled squeaks!!!

I reinstalled 3.2 and voice was back to normal, bloody Garmin beta bloody firmware

Also Garmin’s download page has changed twice this evening from normal usb installer to a serial port/usb card programmer install then back to normal usb installer, very strange!

Think I’ll give them a ring tomorrow

I spoke to Garmin mid morning, they said download it a fresh and try again.

So I did…the download web page was back to normal! I downloaded the file and updated the GPS, all seems to be ok, voice is back!

Can you look on your Map Information page and tell me if any of the map families have a 'hollow tick'

Mine has done this twice since v3.21 beta
If you select the map family then hit MENU, you can toggle thru the segments and you will find that one or more is not selected. You should be able to select the tick box and re-enable it but this will not work on mine.

Losing readability of map segments was one of the symptoms of the firmware corruption issues that we experienced prior to v2.94 beta (December 2004).

Burnie, I’ve checked mine tonight when I got home, all are ticked and selected ok, mine seems to be working fine now.

Hi Ebbo !!! I know it is an old post but you seem to know quite a lot for the 276c unit. I am having a few problems at the moment with updating the actual unit with the latest firmwire. I have the 4.20 version and there is out the 5.4 i think. I downloaded the update but when I am trying to installe it it sais that my GPS is not connected to the computer or it is switched off. Any Idea what it might be ?
Also I have problems with the Mapsource but I think I will leave this for another thread.
