Here and there.....
Not done one of these before, but thought I'd put up a few pics from our our recent trip in Europe if anyone's interested in having a look.
On the tunnel Sat 25th August as per usual, a little wet and bloody windy:blast Met a fellow Tosser, David, on here as Worthingwelsh,on his way to meet his mate in Belgium, another couple on a GS going to Croatia, and a guy on yet another GS popping down to Germany to see his parents. You couldn't move for the bloody things.
Uneventful trip through France aiming for Dun sur Meuse. Campsite was full of reptile circus:nenau and couldn't see many bars so we moved on to Verdun. Found a nice campsite, set up, had a few beers and cooked up a tomato, garlic and chillie pasta. Washed down with a couple of bottles of red/Rose.

weather not good on day 2 as we rode into Germany,no real picture opportunities. Did stop for a bite to eat, bloody nice kebab from roadside cafe..............I take her to all the best places:rolleyes:
018.jpg

For Day 3 wanted to get down to lake Orta in Northern Italy, where we planned to stay for a few days.
Weather much better today although a little chilly early on.So stopped for a coffee on lake Schuchsee.
IMG_1918.jpg

IMG_1920.jpg

Then on down the 500 towards and into Switzerland.
IMG_1923.jpg

At this point the mrs starts to take pics from the back while on the move.
IMG_1936.jpg

The Alps come into view in the distance:clap
IMG_1925.jpg

still in the lowlands.
IMG_1930.jpg

The first 30 or so miles in Switzerland was a little frustrating as you tend to ride from one village almost then immediately into the next one.Now the Swiss do like to obey the speed limits and from what I had heard this is advisable, but feck me they don't just throttle off as they come to the 30 zone they drive all be it at only about 50mph then when they come to the 50kph sign they slam on the brakes.:blast
It's also weird to be riding along as atrain is coming towards you only feet from the kerb:eek:
IMG_1932.jpg

Moving closer now to the mountains.
IMG_1941.jpg

Takes a while doing this doesn't it? Will be back with more!

We were now travelling down 4 to lake Lungeresee.Stopped to take a few pics there. The water is an amazing colour on the lake.

IMG_1989_zps3d29ce82.jpg

So we set up camp for a few days, weather looking good.
IMG_1995.jpg

Fancied Lake Orta as it's the smallest of the major Northern Italian lakes.
Also had read that it was by far the least touristy of the lot, which is what we were looking for.Lovely place.
We camped a short walk from the main town of Orta San Giulio. beautiful little town.Vehicles are only allowed into the town to deliver goods or to get to the hotels.Vehicles must then be removed to a car park just outside the town.Makes it a great place to wander round, have a beer or meal in the little side streets etc.
Few pics of the town and lake below.
Posh hotel on the outskirts of the town with Michelin restaurant............

Nice trip and cracking photos. Tomato/Mozza salad doesn't look too shabby either :thumb
Always good to see a first trip going so well, as it means we'll get the pleasure of seeing your pics from a few more ;-)

Not our first trip.Just not been able to post pics till now:blast, and been too lazy. Usually do a couple a year through France, one with the Mrs and one with my son who rides an 1150 GS. Off again in a few weeks down to the house to shut it all down. This trip was a little longer than usual, still have more pics coming as we move into France.I always like to see peoples ride reports so thought I should get off my arse and post one myself.:thumb Nice to see a few of you are liking it:beerjug:

Nice pics and looks like a great ride. I've never even heard of Lake Orta, much less been there, but it looks just about perfect. Certainly logged as a future potential destination. :thumb2

The photo you took of from the Grimsel pass of the Furka pass: I think tradition dictates that you're supposed to take the picture th eother way round (i.e. picture of the Grimsel taken from the Furka). On Alpineroads.com there is a great thread where everyone has posted their unique individual pictures from virtually the same spot.

(I quite fancy your wife, by the way. :D )

Everyone likes a good report :D Where you moving to?:Motomartin

So after the lunch and particularly the wine, I needed a snooze in the shade
I snapped this on the phone as I lay half cut under the trees:jager It was shot from my horizontal position hence my feet are in it:blast.
Nice view to wake up to though:D
035.jpg

Meanwhile my good lady went for a dip........
IMG_2025.jpg

The following day we came to the end of our short stay at Lake Orta and planned to move off down into Provence . The weather looked to be changing, so we decided to stay ahead of it and move south.Had to wash a few clothes by now and then dry them...........
IMG_2019.jpg

Then to France.........................almost.

3 weeks thats the way to do it :D very nice, time to chill :cool

makes a big difference having some nice blue sky days for you and your good lady :thumb2 :D

Great pictures, and a nice report thanks for posting :clap

Had a route planned in to the Zumo to take us from Orta to Briancon in France. However, an hour into the ride the weather as predicted turned very wet.and the forecast in that part of the Alps looked wet for the next few days. The med coast of Provence still looked good for the next few days so we headed south towards Torino then Cuneo and into France. As we
reached Menton on the French coast, which was packed with tourists, we were advised that there were very few campsites from Menton to well past Nice that we could stay at, which were on the coast:( too many posh places to let the Rif Raf in:blast.
We then decided to pop back over the border into Italy a few miles up the road, where we found campsite very quickly.

Turned out to be the most expensive one we stayed at at 26E  for the night.Wouldn't of been so bad ,but it was a shithole............literally:eek
We did though manage to nick 2 chairs from the bar and sit down to slap up meal around the improvised table(Vario topbox).

IMG_2030_zps0f28b2ac.jpg

Next day, woke to better than expected weather, bright sunny and warm, and forecast to improve as we rode west.We planned to ride west across Provence to small town called Sanary Sur Mer just West of Toulon,as Mrs J wanted a few days by the sea.:Motomartin
We set off back along the French Riviera then up onto the motorway.

26 E p/n sounds a little overpriced :rob, how much average price is at most of camp sites down there?

Nice photos, beautiful weather.
