Guys

I was sold an Adv with a 30 litre tank, however when i filled it up today from almost empty (almost no bars showing on the RID) it only took 23 litres, or £19.50.

Do i not have a 30 litre tank, or am i missing something.

Oh, i get about 240 miles from a tank.

ALMOST no bars???

there were some bars there then????

You've got a long way to go to empty in that case...i get 70 miles at least from when the yellow light comes on, and i've done 30 miles with no bars at all on the RID.....

was you the bloke who got his bike from Ernshaws just near Huddersfield ????
You followed me to Alan jeffs one sat morning ????

Tanks compared

I've had both.

The standard GS tank I have had 238 miles out of and I was hoping for the last 10miles that I wasn't going push it to the nearest station.

The Adv Tank I have had 298 miles from so far, but that has not been gentle work.

If the tank takes over £20 of fuel I think you have a 30 litre tank.

how about a pic, then w will all be able to tell in a second?

Thanks for help guys.

More info.

Yellow light comes on with 1 bar showing. Usually started to look for garage at that point. Thought that if it went to no bars, bike would stop, so closest i got today was RID flicked between 1 bar and no bars before i did a fill up.

I find it odd that the bars go quick after a fill up, then it seems that when yellow light is on people are getting 70 miles or so.

Will nip down and get a pick.

Re Bike from Earnshaws: I have had a TL1000S from Earnshaws, but got the Adv from Jefferies. Doesn't ring any bells me following a GS to Jefferies on Sat morn, sorry.

Sounds like you've got an Adv tank with the Std fuel pump & sender unit for the fuel guage. It will show the tank emptying at a similar rate to the Std tank but when you only have 1 bar left and the light comes on, you will still get over 100 miles.

Using the trip meter in combination with the fuel guage will give you reliable info.

HTH,

Yellow light comes on my Adv after all the bars gone. Have travelled 40 miles with light on. Still fuel in tank (couple of litres by the sound of it - I removed tank). This was at just over 300 miles from filling up 30l tank.
Sorry, but I just stuck a tenners worth in after - so no help on capacity.

tgrr - bring it with you on Wednesday night to the Hopper and we'll all have a look:beerjug:
Got 300 from mine before I could find a petrol station - filled up with 27 litres so plenty of mileage left.

Thank again chaps

Will take bike to meet on Wed at Hopper lane and get several experts views on the '30' litre capacity.

Cheers
:)

Sounds like you've got an Adv tank with the Std fuel pump & sender unit for the fuel guage.

Does that mean there is a Adv pump & sender unit you can get if you are adding the 30ltr tank to a standard bike?
What do you have Jim Mc?

Have the 1150 sender unit in the tank - yellow warning light comes on at 220/240 miles
