Not trying to piss on your bonfire but why do you need a 450W alternator?

I commute mostly, so the revs don't get all that high - This way I can charge the battery fully at lower revs.
At the same time, using my spotlights and accessory socket etc

I'm not sure but don't you need to change the rectifier regulator for the police type, to get a better charge at lower rev's.

I was told by Motorworks the Police type regulator charge the system at lower revs then the std one.

I've done this already It does help, but I still need more wattage to run the spotlights and heated grips etc.

I installed the EnduraLast 400W kit last year which I bought in the US.

It is a 2-Phase brushless type using a permanent magnet. Supposed to give better low rpm charging characteristics than the Omega.

That is what I read anyway, the bikes still not running yet but hopefully next year (but that's what I said the year before; sadly).

From what I've read, then it would be a good idea to have an ammeter if you do. It can, it's just what else you're trying to power, and how fast the engine is turning for how long.

A few weeks ago I was running a heated liner and gloves plus DRL's (HID). It was OK at motorway/main-road speeds but an hour or so bimbling about in a city drained the battery to the point that the next day I just got the dreaded "click" from the starter relay Battery was a PC680.


A bigger alternator is now on my "want list"

Last weekend, after a night ride of 100 km with Hella fog lights on, my new battery (odyssey pc680) went down to 40% level -before the ride it was 100% according to the voltimeter- so Im afraid alternator is not strong enough. Motorworks sells a kit which seems to be the Omega but I have doubts between Omega and Enduralast kits. What do you think about? It is a R100GS PD.

Just back from the Calum's Road trip to the Gambia, ( nearly 5000 miles ) the bike had an Enduralast kit fitted and never missed a beat, coping with additional lights. heated clothing and numerous cold starts in sub zero temperatures.

Can't recommend them enough
