Had my 6,000 mile service done today, good job well done by Balderston - cost me a small fortune but did have new rear Tourance Next fitted and brakes cleaned which bumped up the price a tad but no problems reported and no recalls, just routine stuff.

Had a loner 650 to get me back home - never ridden one of those before, a nice little bike but couldn't tour on it as it doesn't have a screen so lots of wind pressure at even 70mph but would make a great commuter.

PS. it also clonks into first but 'snaps in' a bit neater 1200 even with gentle pressure on the lever - different bikes with different characteristics?

Balderstone's charge top dollar, new tyre, brake clean, not much change from £300 I suspect.

My dealer told me the new WC was designed for reduced maintenance times.
As my 2009 model (pre tc) has cost £180 for the 12000, and £220 for the 18000 service the cost should be much lower.

Extended valve clearance is the only thing that's extended on the 6000 mile annual service to 12000 miles, did he tell you that the spark plugs need changing more often than the last model i.e twin cam, if your finding the bills to exspensive take your own oil in for the services and save £30/£40 :thumb

Where are you getting your oil from, can't see how you are getting BMW approved oil for that money?

Huge bargain - You should try being married to my missus ...

Check to see if your dealer offers a pre purchase discount on oil. I pre purchased four oil changes for £90. It gives me a approx.£35 discount on every service for the next two years. Great value except my previous oil change deal was only £60 such is the rise in cost of oil.
PS my dealer is Alan Jefferies.

I got one too , good old AJ 's !

What did they charge for the service?

Basic service is about £140 I think - then cost me for the tyre and extra brake cleaning because it is not part of the 6,000 mile service - I haven't broken down the cost exactly so my figure might be a few quid either way - its the 20% VAT that's the killer!

I'm amazed , I thought it was going to be a £200 / £250 Jobby

Why did you need your brakes cleaning?

Cos they were dirty, the weather was shite for the first couple of months of riding my new bike and I was out in it most days - so a good clean up was in order.

That's less than my dealer charged for first service :(
