At Vines , £137 nothing unusual.

However....... I had a K1600 GT as a service loan bike.

Without wishing to bite the hand that feeds me nor to offend any owners....

..... It's a really long time since I've hated a bike that much.

6 cylinders, 1650 cc and I think 160 bhp. It steered like a pig at slow speeds, the screen and weather protection were actually worse than the Adventure and gearbox was as clonky as hell.

Truly if I had to own one of those I would give up motorcycling.

I guess the appeal is for crazy speeds on European motorways with panniers full and wifey on the back. I'd still choose a GS

Interestingly it was my chance to try (again) the new switchgear in particular the single indicator switch behind the control wheel and the push for main beam and I can now say for certain that I greatly prefer the old two paddle set up.

I'm sure for many the LC is a great bike but, for me, there's not a cat in hell's chance that I will make the change.

I've used up my 9 lives (plus some) for new bikes anyway but it's useful to know

Have a great weekend everyone.

Not ridden one but I would probably feel the same way about the 1600. I know I sure didn't care for my K1200GT, great running engine but what a pig to steer and shift.

Other than you having taken your 1200 to Vines for a 6000 mile service, would this fascinating observation and thread not be more relevant in the K series bike section?

Heavens no I don't need it. Always nice to hear or read though.

No, because my main point is that of Hexhead v the new liquid cooled. I obviously made that decision when I purchased my Triple Black Adventure a few weeks ago but it has proved to be a winner for me. In particular I am more convinced than ever that the switchgear of the LC sucks and that's reassuring to know.

Also there has been some discussion about first service costs elsewhere and I just wanted to add my stats.

A main point that was then restricted to just one line at the end of your post that was otherwise a treatise on the relative merits of a K 1600, including its switchgear.

Ah, a Twippple Bwack. That explains it all. You are excused.

They're so different from any other Twin Cam GSA, didn't you know :)

However the daddy is the 90th Anniversary - a real emperor's bike & in gold too

I bet you feel so insecure now Wapping riding a 1600 - how degrading

Anyway I wouldn't worry it's only a paper thin affirmation that MA has bought the right bike again....and again. ...and again

Until he buys a WC in a few weeks time :)

So, let me get this right. Vines lend you a K16, which you think is shite, the low speed handling is terrible, the gearbox is clunky and the switchgear is awful. And on that basis, you've decided that the LC GS must also be terrible, and you definitely made the right choice re the GSA.:nenau

Are you sure it's us that you're trying to convince you bought the right bike this time?:comfort:D

By Jove Nutty, I think you may have cut through to the very nub of the OP's circuitous and somewhat oblique message to the world at large.

I can hardly face the day.

I now know that I have 320 kg's of reluctant to turn, difficult to operate switchgear and appalling weather protection sitting in my garage. Before it was just the aggressive tyre wear, a pull to the left and overheating that concerned me. My life is in tatters :tears

If 'Quins go on to lose at home to Scarlets this afternoon, I'll be looking for a yard of hemp and making my way to Blackfriars Bridge. Boots size 44, form a tidy queue, no dibs.

He did impart the price of his first service 'to the stats' whatever the fuck they are, then just went on a diatribe of reaffirmation

You'd think it was the Holy Trinity in his house (I bet his Wife thinks it is as he changes his mind so often)

Its no more than you deserve anyway :blagblah :augie

Relying on Quinn's to save the day

A leaky lifeboat at the moment I must confess.

Good losing bonus point for Tigers in last night's encounter... And a Belfast score line that didn't resemble the scoreboard at Lord's for once :D :beerjug:

I beg to differ...

I was loaned a new K16 recently, while my 90th Edition GSA was in for service.

And i absolutely loved it...Depeche Mode:augie blasting from the stereo, smooth and grunty engine, comfy riding position and a slick gearbox..:thumby:

Before the game I would have taken the losing bonus point,I didn't see it all but at times I thought we could have got a bit more from the game. Good luck to the Quinn's today hope they turn over the taffs. :beerjug:
