When did the dealers start charging for loan bikes? NOG tried to charge me for a loaner when I had negotiated a free first service. They soon backed down.

Thinking 'outside the box' why not try phoning a couple of local dealers and say something like ''how much is a first service''?

I've never paid for a loan bike. They've tried to charge me in the past, but I've always had the charge removed.

£10 for a loan bike is ultimate stupidity on the dealers part. It does nothing at all for their revenue , but creates bad feeling with customers !

Couldn't agree more, putting fuel in is one thing but paying for the bike is another!

Why not call the dealers that are within your travel distance and ask them? As you can see prices vary all over the place so someone paying £100 is useless to you if you have to pay £200. They won't negotiate now either as they have your money already.

Mine cost about £80 at Bahnstormer Alton where I bought the bike from....just charged for parts and no labour

just had my 2016 model R1200GSA serviced last month, the 600 mile service cost me £178, but the next closest dealer is 100 miles away so i guess they can charge what they want as they got no compitition

Because in a fraction of the time it takes me to do that I can post something on here which will generate 20+ replies which offer far more insight than a call with a dealership would offer...and the vast majority are extremely useful (FYI - your response....not so much)

Thanks for all of the replies. Much appreciated. Going to call Lind, Norwich tomorrow and negotiate hard. I have at least 5 main dealers within 100 miles so will shop around if I don't get a reasonable offer. Will keep you posted
