I recently had my 6000 mile service done by Wollastons at Northampton and when I went to pick it up I was given a bill for £240! I queried it and they reduced it to £195! I asked for the list of work they carried out. When you look at it, apart from the oil, filter, valve clearance the rest is just checking!

I can do that! If it wasn't half way through the Warranty I would do it myself. In fact, when my warranty runs out next year and my 12000/12 months is due I WILL do it myself!!

Don't get me wrong I think they are a good dealer but it does make you
wonder Where did £45 suddenly disappear from?

I also had a demo bike, an ST, the engine was really smooth and it makes you wonder why they can't make the GS engine run like that! but, the steering was awful, the protection (it was raining!) was non-existant, and it felt like a moped!!!

Give me my GSA anyday!!

Feel better for the rant!!!

Funny then they have just charged this guy less...

"Booked my 1200 into Wollaston last week for its first annual service, took it in today and had been quoted '...about £175...' for the job. Picked the bike up tonight and was asked to pay £119"

They gotta pay for all those warranty claims somehow..

On the brighter side your bike will get lots smoother when it's done 12,000 or more miles.

Not sure whether this is the same? is the 6000 mile service the same as a "first annual service" cos if it is I may well be going back to Wollastons and asking why they have charged me more!

Wait for the 24000 mile service! It cost me £433!

It's the same thing as far as I understand it, 6000 miles or 1 year, whiuchever comes first:

http://www.r1200gs.info/R1200GS-Maintenance-Schedules.pdf

do a search of the 1200 forum using 'service schedule' there are loads of threads, especially cost of the 6000 miler.

Sounds like you've been done - a normal 6000 mile service at Southport Superbikes cost me £75 a couple of weeks ago :beerjug:

Time to move up North!!
Wolleston quoted £150 and then charged me £200. When I quaried it they said they sort it out at the 12000 miles. Looks like £125 off the 12000 bill then!!

Just had mine done today at Pidcocks for £197 but that included purchase and fitting of a fender extender. :clap

I paid £170 for 6k service at Cannon's in Braintree.
Switched to Sawbridgeworth motors in Hertford for 12k+annual service £315.
(Cannon's treated a mate of mine badly and i think there customer service is poor, SBW Motors are miles better). Rant over

Just paid £175.64 for 6000mile service including £15 for a loan bike at SLM.

£218.29 for a 6000 mile service at Bahnstormer including £15 for the "courtesy" bike.

Agree with your mate on that one. Cannons customer service is poor. Have been to Sawbridgeworth BMW a few times now despite the fact that it's an extra 30 miles. On both occassions they couldn't have been more helpful.
