I've recently bought a F650GS which has the high seat option and it's perfect for my height.

However I've just come back from my first longish trip +200km and my ass was sore after 50!!

Are there any more comfortable seats available from a third party supplier with the same height?

Preferrable that I can order online.

Any suggestions welcome.

Give it some time, you get used to it eventually, I can do 100+ miles non stop on the high seat. Try Touratech and Wunderlich for aftermarket seats, there are some others that do them but I dont know the details. Someone will be along shortly to fill in the gaps :aidan

The seat, your ass or prehaps both will break in. Give it a little time. I would recommend the Alaskan sheepskin buttpad - it really helped my seat. If you decide to order one, type in "deadsheep" in the coupon area of the order form and you'll save 10%.

Mmmmm (The seat, your ass or prehaps both will break in) ive had me dakar 2 years and its still a pain in ass:D

I also found the seat uncomfortable but persisted and did a bit of standing up (practicing for my first off road trip) which gave my bum a bit of a rest. Went from Cornwall to Telford with a short stop forn lunch no problem, getting used to it, short ride to stoke the next day then a long hard day thrashing into mid wales to ride off road, probably too scared to notice my arse, agood thrash back to Telford at speed which again made my butt the last thing to worry about. Next day rode back to Cornwall at a very steady pace to see if I could actually get over 60mpg and got home and able to walk and sit down no probs.. My motto, ride it and get used to it...:rob :rob

He may not have as much padding as you pasty, after all a diet of cornwalls fav snack, clotted cream scones and full fat ice cream will pad out the old deriare.:augie

Sore bums

Best thing I've found is a piece of artificial sheepskin called Vetbed ! almost the same as the real thing but doesn't hold water !!
Failing that get an old sheepskin coat from a carboot for a couple of quid !
cut it to shape and throw it away when itss buggered

Arse not so sore anymore... just did another couple of more trips and either the seat is getting better or my ass is getting use to it!

I bought the Alaska sheepskin cover for about £40 two years ago. However,I got landed with another bill for import duty £13 a few days later.
The cover does make a difference.I came back from a rally in Scotland last september in just over eight hours covering about 410 miles and my backside was OK.

I used to ride from London to the Austrian side of Lake Constance quite a lot during the last few years. Managed to get to Trier on the first day with a hurting bottom, then the end of the second day from Trier down to Lake Constance was torture with the original seat.
I got the Touratech seat now since a couple of years and managed the whole distance in a day without any problems. When I left London at around 8 am I was in Bregenz around 12 pm the same day (I have a cigarette break at every fuel stop and at least one between the fuel stops). No pains the next day.

I can only recommend it, it transformed the bike for me.

I fitted an airhawk over the high seat and it's first trip was from Stranraer to Dover in one day!!

600 miles with very little discomfort.

MIke.
