650gs pokey enough 2 up with luggage

Hi all as the title says.
Looking at getting one for a very odd run out two up with the gaffer. Localish up to 150 miles out, nice hotel then run home after a potter about.
Mainly as hooning tool, run out to bike events. Hoping to do isle of man and possibly Tour of France Race.
Is this a suitable tool for the job?.
Top speed irrelavent, 80mpg tops is fine, mpg needs to be good. Reliability crucial.
I have had all sorts of bikes, possibly 30. Kawa turbo, Bmw 1100gs, Water cooled tenere (lovely bike). 250 AND 400 two strokes etc.

Yup. We've done Europe plenty of times 2 up with luggage. Motorways at 90 are doable but uncomfortable. I've got a Wnderich Ergo tall screen on which really help with wind buffeting. 60-70 on the N's and D's are brilliant and who wants to sit on the motorways anyway? Mpg never seems to vary much below 75 until you wring it's neck on the motorway when it drops to 55. The Rotax engine is pretty bombproof too.
