660 hung/locked after 2013.3 map update

Hi Guys,

I've just this week updated to 2013.3 map updates ( a right chew on in itself )

I'd loaded some maps into the unit and was just viewing them, I'd tried to recalculate one of them and the unit just made a faint crackling noise

Then when I pressed the back key, there were no keytone sounds, now the unit is totally locked up!
I've tried removing the battery and rebooting it but no joy, all it shows is the Garmin start up screen and thats it, totally frozen, can't even switch it off unless I pull the battery out.

Connected it to the laptop and it doesn't see it at all.

I'm stumped, any ideas

Panic over anyhow, after being plugged into mains power for a couple of hours it seems to have "untwisted its knickers" all on its own - result!

Wouldn't like to have that happen on a ride in the middle of France though
