No you don't. As long as genuine parts are used you are fine. You could do it yourself if needs be,
However, if you do go down the dealer route, it's worth ringing them to see what he'll charge and don't get caught out with the usual "oh, it needs an annual" or "ooh, those brake discs need changing" or "there is a terrible rumble in your final drive" accompanied by a large intake of breath.
Find the right local specialist and you'll get a better service for less money. If you were thinking about Cooper Sunderland IMHO their sales department is ok but service maybe not.

A lot, sounds about right for a main dealer. Did you ever think it would be cheap? I used to pay about that for my Tiger 955, I reckon an average of £300 a year for bike servicing by a main dealer, regardless of make or model. As already said, a good independent specialist will be cheaper and better.
I wanted to get a feel of an average price as this is the first time I have paid fo a service as I usually do them myself but I have only had the bike for 12 months and wanted to keep the service stamps in the book. Thanks for the replies. TA

There you go, and why your main dealer quote seems high. They've quoted you for an annual service not a 6k mile service.
So £240 doesn't seem that expensive for an annual at a main dealer. .

I did my own then made a warrantee claim for my gearbox and clutch without a problem. All they asked me to confirm was what oil I'd used. I gave them the plastic container it came in (Castrol Power 1 4T) containing the old oil! Cost to me of doing service around £40 apposed to £300 boy dealer.
