71 next to roads

I have noticed this in mapsource for a long time but only just got round to asking.

Along lots of roads I see 71. As I zoom in and out it eventually disappears. But what does it mean? Currently running City Navigator Europe NT 2011.12

Will try to workout how to do a screen-shot so you can see better.

Any ideas?

Don't use map source myself but did find this;

seems to be a software "issue" with version 16...
maybe thinks it's a marine map

Switch depth settings to fathoms and all 71's or 22's will become 12's.
12 fathoms equals 22 meters or 71 ft...

Fixed some map display issues (22s & 71s labels instead of highway names).

Someone with more knowledge will be along shortly with a better explanation

That's an old mapset you're using there, it was an 'issue' then.

2012.4 is the latest version, no such problems with this...
