Had my 800GS in for some work today and the dealer told me I had a buckled front wheel.... It's only slight, and I hadn't noticed it while riding, so.....

Does anyone know if this is a common fault, and if it is where can I get it fixed!!??

warped discs yes, a wheel?? wtf you done to it? Clipped a kerb...let some tit ride you bike..do a piccy or better still a small video of spinning the wheel bud.

If you ride your f800GS off road this is a common fault, rims are too wide and soft.

I have had a dent in my front rim for ages ... It doesn't seem to make much difference. I remember when it happened, a deep, square cross drain on a gravel road at about 100 km/hr. I stood up and tried to lighten the front, but it was a big impact.

both my rims kinked from potholes in kazakhstan, but doesn't affect the ride adversely. ideally i'd like a set of excel rims as the 800 rims are heavy and soft, but no one has spoked a set of excel's for the 8 yet and i'm not going to be the first. so, if the tube and tyre are holding air, i wouldn't worry about it. keep dinging them until you've restored the symmetry ;)

It happens...

Thanks boys.... It's not been off road yet, however the roads in South Yorkshire are quite similar to a third world country in places! Can't remember hitting anything really big recently, maybe I am just panicking about nowt....

For a future possible reference. :D

I nearly had the excel rim spoked to the F800GS rear hub, but could not get a hub. (was going to be done at a fair price from devon rims (spoke to a very nice gentleman by the name of Doug Richardson)

Got the whole wheel off a 8 that had done 5K miles (in good condition) from James sherlock. :thumb2 :D

If it's just bashed in one spot then take the tyre off have a go at doing it yourself with a hammer and block of wood, plus a big wrench to bend the actual rim back again. I did that on my Tenere and it's good enough.

v8legend: It was seeing that the F800GS had tubed tyres that persuaded me to get the F650GS twin! I've got tubed tyres on the Tenere and punctures come far too often. The HP2 enduro has a 21-in tubeless front. It would be brilliant if you could convert to a 21-in tubeless front and 18-in tubeless rear.

I've just looked on RealOEM, and the HP2 Enduro has 40 spokes, and the F800GS has 36, so not as easy as I'd hoped. They don't seem to list the rim seperately for the HP2 either, just a whole wheel at $1477!

Back to the drawing board.
