Just wheeled the bike out of the garage to find that I have a nail in the back tyre. The local BMW garage is shut today, with it being a Monday. Looks like my elaborate plan of finishing work at 11pm and making it to the local before midnight has been kayboshed.
Anyway, the back tyre is a Tourance which has done about 1000 miles. The nail is almost in the middle of the tread pattern, not near the side walls and it doesn't seem to be a very thick nail, judging by the head of it.
So, new tyre or repair ? Where's the best place in or near Edinburgh to have it repaired if it's viable, not sure whether Motorrad will do it.
As an aside, i'm sure the nail is from all the shite that my neighbour is throwing into a skip whilst building his bloody extension.
Subtle forms of vengeance ?

cheers

i'm going to be late for work if i do that now, will just have to get the bus. i might give them a try in a couple of days to see if they can fix it.
thanks again, have a good one.

Time to have a thorough Hogmonay clean up, sweep your drive in the neighbours direction. And if you should happen to have a few nails on your drive they will disappear to where they belong:D

Have a good one:beerjug:

pop into two wheels and see if they can do a repair...

No don't go anywhere near Two Wheels. Go somewhere where they understand about customer service instead.

It depends upon whereabouts in town you are but given a free choice I'd take it into Saltire Suzuki.

If it's in the block of the tread, it might not be all the way through. If it's in the space between the blocks, you're probably fecked !!
Anyway, it being in the centre of the tread, it should repair OK

Shudda got some UltraSeal:)

Not being funny, but why don't you just use the BMW puncture repair kit, or ask a nearby mate if you haven't got one? :nenau

I've got one of Slimbos kits (virtually identical to the BMW kit) and it only takes a few minutes - you could get it done before your first Guiness has settled.

If you're in the AA, that's the one they use. :thumb2

I go to C & J Wilson's at Uphall (and not just because my neighbour is their sister).

Craig is good with tyres - I have never had any rim scrapes from him - unlike my experiences with the defunct Alvins.

Give them a call on 01506 856751.

I always put Ultraseal in my tyres (and check them periodically for nails).

Bob.

Any mainstream tyre place will tell you if they can repair it and will do so to BS standard. From what you say it's do-able.

Finilec or similar Foam filler has worked for me many times

I've never repaired the tyre thereafter, just ridden it until time to change the tyre....at my normal pace/riding style/loading inc. Motorway stuff...

Only time it didn't work, a Plug wouldn't have either...
