As Schtum, who tried to help me a week ago, and someothers who may have read the thread, I have been in contact via Emails with Garmin now for a week.
The original "Excuse" was the update disc has a 'phone home' feature which was having technical problems. Try again in a weeks time they said.
Somehow we got onto what might actually be the problem. From the questions being asked of me it was "kinda established" I may have some files missing on the unit (a 1300T nuvi) My map info page "said" I had CN Europe UK& Ireland 2010.10 with a green tick next to it loaded but the version was slight greyed out. From the guy at Garmin mentioning this fact I gathered I didn't have the mapping installed.
I can do everything the unit was designed for except update to 2010.20 via a disc. I have been able to use the unit to travel around the U.K. at times. So no trouble there.
So after confirming ALL this to Garmin guy he now offers me "A gesture of Goodwill" ,,,a free download, to save me waiting until the technical problem is fixed. The download doesn't have this Phone Home feature.
I have written to him to basically say I will accept this gesture but NOT as a goodwill gesture but as an appeasement to a Garmin customer, not once but twice.
Have I gone too far??
Whatcha think, bearing in mind it has been a week and I have been answering questions put to me for a week and the phone home feature technical problem has not beeem fixed. I opted for a disc, haveing heard how long it might take to download I payed £5.75 towards post and packaging for what I received I reckon postage would have been in the region of a second class stamp.
Is this a rant or what?
Thanks for reading
