Fitted one of John's chips today and just got back from short ride on my 99 1100 gs in the Yorkshire Dales. Twisty B roads, long steep hills, slow corners and fast straights. It was a revelation and far more enjoyable. The gs now pulls in top gear from 1800 revs and revs onto the redline with complete ease. I tried slow speed manoeuvres in different gears and found it much smoother with much less of that on off stutter. It still shows a little of this characteristic but at much lower revs than before but with two bloody great cylinders pounding away I can understand it. Slow, tight corners were taken in a higher gear than previous and still pulled out of them like a train. The higher rev range was gained very quickly and cleanly. In summary a fantastic improvement for not a lot of Drachma (pun intended) Put it in top gear and just ride.Well done the Greek.

Wicked!!

I think stage 6 needs higher octane gas.
I have quite early chip from John and he didn't talk about stages then.
Just told him about the usage and what mods I have planned.

Couldn't be happier :)

Really easy.

The hardest part is prying the metal casing apart and that's not difficult, its just a matter of being gentle.

I used two flat, wide bladed screw drivers and prised gently until the silicon began to part on it's own.If the silicon is stubborn use a stanley knife and put the blade in very carefully. Don't forget to re seal with silicon.

Just wondering if it's simply a case of popping one of these chips in , with no other adjustments or work necessary. My mechanical know how is very limitied

Yes it is that simple. Plug and play. You just need to be careful with the removal of the old chip and putting the new one in the right way.

I have stage 4 chip in my 2000 r1150gs it works fantastic, simple as taking one out and putting new one in.

You can trust GS John 100% he is an honest bloke with a love for bmw bikes and very knowledgable in the field.

He is doing his best to help everyone with the chips he produces at a very reasonable price.

I'm guessing you guys used an anti static board and band as per the instructions ?
My chip arrives next week can't wait

errr, nope, didn't think of that and don't remember any instructions apart from what John's posted. Just prised apart and fitted, carefully to make sure the little pins are properly in, it's a snug fit. Did re-silicon mine, I expect thats asking for trouble, but thought it's in a dry enough place :)
