As some on here know, I’ve been wanting to ride my bike onto a small island called Iraklia for many years. There are only about 5km of roads on the island and a population of about 100 but, I want to do it.
So, I discovered Overlanders in Gorey do a bike transport to a place called Isthmia near Athens, you get two weeks there then they bring it home. So I booked it last year.
I realise I should ride each way and not use a transporter but I need to be back for mid May, no choice about that.
I got the bike ready, packed it up amd wheeled it out the garage last Sunday, put on my helmet, turned on the fuel, smelt petrol.
Helmet back off, fuel leaking from one of the fuel pipes, turned out they were all rotten. Bike back into the garage, old fuel pipes removed and I had enough new pipe to connect the left hand tap.
The big bag on the seat is stuff to wear going home, my bike gear all went in there for the transport.
And off I went.
I stayed a night in Stranraer on the way, ferry the next day to Belfast then rode down to Gorey through some pretty crap weather initially.
I’d booked a wee bnb about a mile out of town, got there about 7 and the lady offered to run me into town for a beer. It would have been rude to refuse. There were a couple of very busy, loud pubs and one small, quieter one called French’s which was just what I wanted.
Next morning a very slick handover at Overlanders and I made my way home.
Today I fly to Gatwick, tomorrow to Athens and hopefully make my way to Isthmia to find my bike waiting.

Brilliant idea . I keep
Meaning to do the same . Might take a month or more to ride round Greece . I look forward to your story . Enjoy

Happy travels Alastair. Overlanders are top notch, I've got always been very impressed by how they run things.

Have a lovely trip, Greece should be comfortably warm and quiet this time of year :beerjug:

An easy journey from Gatwick, very helpful guy at the airport train station told me trains and connection details, €11 for a ticket to Corinth and €12 for a taxi to the hotel in Isthmia where the bike is due later today.
So, with nothing in particular to do, I came up with an idea of a way to enjoy the mid 20’s weather and a location by the sea.
