....another thought. Could try engaging a (high) gear and turning the the wheel backwards slightly, which should give slack onto that side of the timing chain. The cam chain tensioner primarily acts on the other side.

Remove valve cover (or rocker cover) and introduce long flat screw driver under chain rail pry chain rail up introduce screw

Thats exactly what we did, two of us managed to "dig" around and lift the chain guide to allow the bolt to slip in.

Now back to the original quandary, where to mount the tax disc
