....another thought. Could try engaging a (high) gear and turning the the wheel backwards slightly, which should give slack onto that side of the timing chain. The cam chain tensioner primarily acts on the other side.

Didn't Mummy tell you not to play with things you no nothing about:cool: I showed my wife what you did:blast

Well your Mummy obviously didn't teach you how to spell... ("no" should be "know", just in case you don't know) :D

Bad luck, Livvy, mate. It's the action of a moment that lands you in such shite. I've had a few such "ping-f^ck" moments in my biking career and the last thing you need is smart arses rubbing it in. All power to your knitting needle efforts...

Remove valve cover (or rocker cover) and introduce long flat screw driver under chain rail pry chain rail up introduce screw
Good luck :thumb

This is spooky, thats exactly what I have just trying to do, with no success................so far

Ow's about removing the breather cover, so you can see the cam sprocket, you may be able to see the end of the slide and persuade it into place.:nenau

cam2.jpg, have a poke about in here with your knitting needle.

RESULT

Remove valve cover (or rocker cover) and introduce long flat screw driver under chain rail pry chain rail up introduce screw
Good luck :thumb

Thats exactly what we did, two of us managed to "dig" around and lift the chain guide to allow the bolt to slip in.

Thanks for all the assistance and tips guys, there is a wealth of collective information on this site (and thats just the 1200 GS section:D)

Now back to the original quandary, where to mount the tax disc
but thats for another day.

I think we all deserve a :beer::beer:

Nice one :thumb2

Might want to check for oil leaks on the first run out. There's quite a few seals you can have leak, including the one on the bolt you took off.

Thank F*ck that's sorted I was panicking there for a while, so god only knows know how you must have felt.

And who the f*ck mounted the holder there in the 1st place anyway?

P.S. Today is national swearing day (In my head) :)

Nope, I forget it's there....:beerjug:

Would seem like 20 odd quid well spent. Is it really 100% waterproof?

I wander how many LED units have been sold?
