A sad, sad day

I cann't recommend the XRV 750 Africa Twin RD07 enough. I really love mine.

As for the fuel consumption the R1150GS seemed heavier on fuel. It had a bigger tank but I seemed to fill it up just as often.

The @ according to the xrv.org.uk web site do around 200 miles to a tank (22 ltrs) taking it easy.

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/africa...l-performance-top-speed-fuel-consumption.html

I seem to get around 180-185 miles to a tank but then the bike is pulling my heavy ass. :blast

But there was also the appeal of the @ been such an iconic bike. I was into them before I ever knew about BMW bikes. So it was an itch I ad to scratch. :D

So happy I did. BMW will be back in my life some day as I love then but the @ now holds a special place in my heart and it's going no where.

Here's a pic of my @ now to help.

africa twin only has few faults, weight, rusty wheel rims and fuel pump

all easy fix though

i think its hard call, i was tied between the 1150 and twin.delighted with 1150. but i think most @ are over priced. i would go BMW all the way

but then again i do love the look of the @

You do like 'twins' don't you..............congratulations !! :)

Cheers gstourer.
Have to admit I am leaning towards the twins on this occasion too. As others have said, the AT was always a bike I remember admiring from very early on especially in blue red and white.

Joe Duffy have a Dakar in at the moment. Decided to take it for a spin yesterday. Huge step down in power from the gs. Pretty disappointed with it in general. I'm sure it'd be fun offroad but so would a 500 euro battered 125cc scrambler!

dakar great bike

but must say i wouldnt drop down from a 650 now muself

but would make a real nice paddy dakae trail bike

had gs out there for 2 hours

man what nice bike and dont think any bike match it for power, torque and putting smile on face. lad on gixer had trouble keeping up in the twisties. gs give you such confidence

How bout KTM 950 Adventure? Just to throw a spanner in the works.

Rode a 990 and hated it. Very snatchy throttle and brakes made of soft cheese. The 950 is supposed to be a far better bike throttle wise.

Very light bike - felt like I could throw it between cars if I was commuting. Lovely sound from the exhaust. Saddle like a razor.

I wouldn't buy a 990 but I wouldn't mind a spin on a 950. No abs though.

new 990 meant be great bike

but 2nd hand as essjay 950 best

but would but any of them as poor 2nd hand sale and engine can give probs and hasnt longest reliability
