A Wander Through Wales From Welshpool

I saw a route through Wales in this months Ride magazine and as I am going to visit a mate near Bristol in June for some riding in Somerset, I thought I would take a day off and ride the majority of this as a way to get down the country. We are staying in the Royal Oak in Welshpool then adhering largely to this route:

those roads have been my playground since I learnt to drive in 1980 and passed a bike test in 1992, having lived in Monmouth, Ross on Wye, Cardiff, Abergavenny and now Welshpool

Pretty good route Sneldog. Been riding around there since I was 16....initially on a BSA B31 with sidecar. Beautiful countryside and motorbiking roads. Enjoy

Whenever I ride with my favourite biker pals, I have a tradition of fitting the gift that they got me on my first trip with them. It’s a porridge spurtle and has travelled thousands of miles with me! That means off soon.

Shame it’s absolutely pissing it down.

West Country today. Down the Somerset coast road, across Exmoor and then back through Glastonbury and Wells. A day finished by drinking one of the finest Irish whiskeys I’ve tried, with undoubtedly one of the finest living Englishmen I know.
