OK so here goes any reputation I had, it can only go downhill from here, so from the WWW I got advice from Dancata who had used UTP computer cable so a freind got me a couple of metres and lets try???
This episode covers the afternoons work, so I had no idea if it was gonna be a big flop or not, it was an honest risk. 8)
I do not have the delicate fingers of a surgeon or an electronis guru, I like big hammers and big spanners.... so it is not gonna be pretty :
This is what I found..
So I checked the loom and my checks said the deterioration was all in the section within the first 100mm or so, so to minimise my intrusion I replaced 150mm of the loom wiring... at the trigger end, I did not intrude on the "crimps" I stripped the damaged insulation back soldered in and for the first time in my life closed it out with heatshrink bought at Builders Whorehouse..
I then spliced in the other end retaining the old sheathing (its tied back) its a very low power signal from the magnetic switches so it must be sheathed,
Although not deemed necessary by my advisor, I want sheathing, so I have some self adhesive aluminium tape, its heavy so its not gonna be pretty but what the hell
So I now still have to give it a cover, so the Whorehouse has some "Rescue Tape" wisely they do not put a price on it, it is a self fusing tape insulating waterproof etc etc, just what I need, but R150 a roll

So all done and reinstalled, looks ok just need to fit altenator belt tank etc etc
So this morning, tension altenator belt, refit altenator cover, fit tank and tidy up, throw in a couple of litres of juice and .......... YESSSSS its a runner..... now to test ride it later to see if it stays that way????
