I'm working up in Aberdeen week after next and don't need to take equipment so am off on the bike, it will be dark in the evenings and beasties will be about, but can anyone suggest a few routes for a ride out at night after I've finished work? Going to be working at the Royal Infirmary and staying in the luxury premier inn on Anderson Drive.

Pity it has to be at night. The roads and scenery around Royal Deeside are great. If you've a day off, try riding along to Braemar and down to Blairgowrie. It's a cracker.

As Ronno says, Royal Deeside, but id go too Banchory and over the hill too Glenkindie and then Huntly and back too the deen. Loads of other roads that are better but you need more time, are you free any daytime ? if so out west is best.

I should be able to wrap up by lunchtime on the Friday mate, so can head down that way to pick a way Southbound. I went a similar way back from Inverness a few weeks ago and took in Braemar, great ride down as it was still in the high teen's. I am in Inverness next week, so may well stay over the weekend, and do a bit of local exploring, then ride over to Aberdeen on the Sunday.

The road up over Lecht to Tomintoul and Grantown on Spey is nice, did it about a month or so ago.
