You weren't the one having a moan at me for snoring was you..We camped on the quiet camp field never had to que once all weekend for a shower or toilet. Bit further to walk for entertainment but the buses were excellent.
I just followed the instruction, vans, motor homes, caravans etc all to be parked in the field below the lake called Paynes Close or something similar. I think the idea was that if a four wheeled vehicle parked in this area they were not likely to get sandwiched in by hundreds of bikes, which couldn’t be guaranteed in other areas.Arrived mid morning Friday and parked 2 campers within spitting distance of the facilities (no queues to speak of) in general camping and 10 minute stroll into the show.
What's the draw of parking in the van section? We could see the top half of the field being covered in dust from the track. Didn't look enticing.
Yep! As with all successful events, they soon become all about the money.Money making machine now.....
Not 2000, this year it was estimated there were 20,000 folk there.Yep! As with all successful events, they soon become all about the money.
You will never see me at that event, even though I’ve never been at it from inception. Small groups I can deal with, but 2000+ bikers, no thank you.
I’ve chatted with each and everyone at our Soft Southern Shandy Drinkers do, yet I haven’t had enough time to chat with everyone at any great length, and that was circa 10 of us in total.
One has to be not well in the head, having to spend £200 shillings, on a weekend camping and sharing porta loos with 2000 biker mates. Can’t thing of anything worse to do.

The instructions were that caravans HAD to go in Paynes Close. Campers and motorhomes could also go there but could also go wherever they liked in general camping.I just followed the instruction, vans, motor homes, caravans etc all to be parked in the field below the lake called Paynes Close or something similar. There isn’t a place for the lower end traders IMHO. It cheapens the whole thing. Fuck knows what those two with the caravan singing weird shit was all about either. Being right next to a surplus seller may just have been a coincidence.According to the organisers, there were 17500 bikes there this year and they are looking to get to 20,000 at least.
I've spoken with Alun on a number of occasions and he's looking to make it the biggest show/festival in Europe.
It's definitely getting a little large that is good for it in my opinion. I though they got it right in 2024 but this year the organisation seemed to be creaking at the seams.
As an exhibitor, it's an excellent show to be at and knocks the NEC into a cocked hat but I did notice that this year they have a few of those lower end traders selling cheap gear which hasn't happened before.
I think it's a brilliant weekend and there is nothing else quite like it but it will destroy itself if it's get's much bigger in my opinion.
They had a kind of chilled hippy feel good festival vibe going on. Good few people sitting under the trees in the shade enjoying them.Fuck knows what those two with the caravan singing weird shit was all about either. Being right next to a surplus seller may just have been a coincidence.

I just followed these instructions as I have done in previous years If you are arriving in a campervan, you’ll be directed to Paynes Close, the dedicated campervan/caravan field. This will be marked out with driving/parking lanes, allowing you to manoeuvre easily – in any of the other camping areas you’re likely to find yourself boxed in by motorcycles. Paynes Close is also nice and flat, so we’ll be able to tow you out if you run into any problems. |
If you want to camp with your friends who are staying in tents, do this in general camping areas rather than Paynes Close. |
Caravans must be set up in Paynes Close. |
There were actually very few portaloos. There were plenty of very decent toilets and showers though, certainly rather better than the ones you were using at the Seven Stars for the Southern Shandy Drinkers thing.Yep! As with all successful events, they soon become all about the money.

Well if they were 2500 down on bikes god knows how long you would have had to wait for showers or toilets2000?
