I must admit they are fine at high speed but a nightmare round town - can they be removed and just a normal set up put in place easily??

AndyT

I too have a friend that had his servo go on a downhill series of bends in Thailand, missed a bend and ploughed into the jungle, loosing a finger and several brocken ribs....

but till this thread I never took it very seriously, thought it was a one off... so as AndyT asks.. is there any way of disarming the servo and having a normal set up?

must say mine work fine, but being cought without brakes on Asian roads would be no fun..

That would be all the evidence I would need, and from what I understand that's about all the evidence BMW needed as well. As Steptoe said pity they took so long.

This thread is a good example of some GS riders having there head firmley up their arse.

Of have a 06 GS bought new in 07, now done 10K km, and had no problems accept a new battery about 1000 km ago, frankly even that is not to acceptable as it happend over a weekend and took my local dealer 4 days to sort. But no worries, I love the bike, bset I have ever ridden.

However, even a cursery view of thiis web sight tell one of many riders misfortune of having friday bikes. It's one thing to have a leaky drive seal or corrosion, but servo's giving up.

Whilst the German investigators may have given up due to lack of evidence to pin point the reason, is Wizzard saying that other riders imagined loosing the brakes temporally... the mate of mine that lost his finger is very very experienced, London to Malaysia, Malaysia to tibet... malaysia to Mongolia.. and he owns a BMW shop, he did not imagine the fault.

Others did not imagine the fault and finally BMW have stopped making servo assisted brakes, where does that leave all us guys with servo assisted brakes?
